Dota 2: BOOM ID could be Fail of the Year because of silly mistake at Bucharest Minor

Bucharest Minor - Emergenceingame

Bucharest Minor entered the playoffs on January 11th and the first knockout series of the tournament will likely be left in the history of Dota 2.

It’s not what you imagine. Neither BOOM ID nor its competitor, Team Team, produced any outstanding highlights. Instead, the ending of late game 1 is sure to win a spot among the top fail clips of 2019. It’s strange that we’re talking about fail of the year when 2019 is just getting started, but when BOOM ID decided to knock GG, as their creeps were about to take down Team Team’s Ancient. This blunder cost the team a disqualification and the chance to attend the Chongqing Major.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Near the 40th minute of game 1, BOOM ID was leading by more than 6k XP and had broken all of the enemy’s barracks. Team Team uses core duo Medusa and Ursa, theoretically enough to defeat Team Indo. However, for most of the match, Medusa was “twisted like a pinwheel” in every teamfight and Ursa alone couldn’t bear it.

Despite the poor handling and confusing build, Team Team dragged the game to the end of the game, helping Medusa deal terrible hand damage. From there, the team pushed the high ground of BOOM ID around 49 minutes. Team Team cleared the opponent in their base, broke the bot barracks, and pushed straight into the tier 4 and Throne turrets.

While the two teams focused 100% on the teamfight taking place on the BOOM ID side, the Radiant creeps were working hard to help the Indonesian team win the match. Neither team noticed the situation. Although his Throne would definitely be destroyed by creeps, no Team Team member teleported back to defend.

Giving up too soon while not knowing you are winning

Meanwhile, BOOM ID didn’t notice that they were actually winning, and when the team carry died without a buyback, BOOM ID typed GG. BOOM ID also had a Glyph of Fortification to prevent Team Team from winning the race to destroy the Throne, but they didn’t use it.

Entering game 2, BOOM ID recovered from what was considered the “strange ending” in Dota 2 history and pushed the series into a decisive game 3. Unfortunately, here the Indo boys could not fight the oversized Terrorblade farm.

“These two teams played poorly, that’s why they were in the Minor,” said Henrik “AdmiralBulldog” Ahnberg after the game. Indeed, his comment was not wrong in the first knockout series. Bucharest Minor that BOOM ID can’t blame anyone but themselves and the silly GG moment when they themselves are really winning.
