The main reason that Valve advises gamers not to open the Steam Deck is because of the battery of this game console, if the gamer punctures the Steam Deck’s Battery, that Battery is likely to catch fire. Note that if the gamer damages the Battery, the gamer will have to spend money to buy a new Battery as Valve’s warranty policy will not cover anything that the player damages himself.

The teardown video reveals that the SSD that the Steam Deck uses is the M.2 2230 form factor in all three of the most affordable 64GB versions and the more expensive 512GB versions. Valve warns that swapping the internal SSD with another SSD can make the Steam Deck susceptible to overheating and can negatively impact other critical components. Removing the SSD from the Steam Deck is a complicated process. complicated, detailed, and Valve notes many ways users can permanently damage their devices if they install the wrong part or do something incorrect.
