Darkest Dungeon PvP Mode Officially Launched, Free For All

On April 1, Red Hood Studios announced The Butcher’s Circus, the PvP mode of the Darkest Dungeon. Many people mistook it for April Fools’ game due to the timing of the announcement coinciding with that event, but that’s not true. And today, this PvP mode is out and it’s completely free.

The DLC will add a new location in the Darkest Dungeon hamlet called The Butcher’s Circus. Teams of four heroes (separate from the heroes in the campaign, to avoid character death) will face off against each other. Unlike campaign characters, PvP heroes have constant stats and non-upgradable equipment. But they have an additional stress skill in the skill set, which can cause psychological effects similar to physical damage.

The trinkets here will help the gladiators gain an advantage over the enemy and your leadership skills will be demonstrated in the arrangement of the squad. This mode is completely separate from the single player and completely free. More importantly, The Butcher’s Circus will not support in-game transactions: All rewards must be received through the plowing process.

DLC characters will be usable in PvP combat, but you’ll need to purchase the DLC if you want to use them in a squad – and players who don’t own the characters may face them. Mods and mod characters are not supported in The Butcher’s Circus to avoid cheating, and it also has an anti-cheat system: Players can choose not to run this system, but will not be able to participate in The Butcher’s Circus DLC. .

Darkest Dungeon: The Butcher’s Circus is only available on Steam “for the time being”. Red Hook says Mac and Linux will be supported in the future, but platforms and game stores are unknown. “Steam is our largest player base and the simplest way to deploy, so we wanted to kick off the PvP experience here,” the studio said.

The new DLC also marks the first time Darkest Dungeon is free for the weekend. From now until June, the full game will be free to play on Steam, and those who want to purchase the game will enjoy a 75% discount.
