CS:GO World Ranking October 2017

October was a busy one thanks to the ELEAGUE Premier and EPICENTER prizes with a total prize pool of $1.5 million. In addition to these two big events, small tournaments also take place during the month. From DreamHack Open Denver and SL i-League Invitational Shanghai to 4 Minors: determine the final teams to qualify for the official ELEAGUE Major Boston.

FaZe surpassed SK in the rankings after winning the ELEAGUE Premier in Atlanta. Team Europe was then unexpectedly eliminated in the group stage of EPICENTER, where SK was crowned with its stand-in Ricardo “boltz” Prass.. The Brazilian giants are now trailing behind with a gap of now just 9 points – as SK’s old leagues are increasingly depreciating.

G2 down 1 place and North down 2 places because of their disappointing performance at LAN. Meanwhile Astralis returned to the top 4 after finishing ELEAGUE Premier as runner-up. Reaching 2 finals in a row, Virtus.pro climbed 5 places to 6th place, while the new King Major Gambit dropped dramatically and is now outside the top 10.

Here is a summary of HLTV’s ratings for readers:

Leaderboard based on BILLIONTeam performance in the last 12 months (with points being deducted monthly), Performance in the last 2 months, and Performance in the last 3 months offline tournaments (LANs). Each team requires three official members (unchanged) to keep points and results online. However that doesn’t have much effect (only affects performance) on the leaderboard and the main purpose is to identify new teams on the leaderboard.

The list of top 30 teams is calculated as of November 6, 2017.

Finishing the top 15 this month is the Natus Vincere team. Ever since Zeus returned, they still haven’t shown the power they once possessed. In this month, Na`Vi still struggled and dropped 5 places compared to the previous month. They could not qualify for the ELEAGUE Premier group stage or qualify for EPICENTER or IEM Oakland.

After many months of playing, Heroic is back in the top 15. This month, the Danish team moved up the rankings thanks to the ELEAGUE Premier playoffs, despite having to stop in the quarterfinals. They also performed well at the StarLadder i-League Invitational Shanghai: 4th place after losing to Virtus.pro in the semi-finals and HellRaisers in the 3-4 match.

In addition to the good news above, Heroic also received some sad news for fans. They failed to qualify for the WESG qualifier for Denmark, having lost their semi-final to Fragsters and thrashing into the Europe Minor. Meanwhile, online, Heroic performed poorly against strong opponents in ESL Pro League and ECS.

Gambit is slowly sliding on the rankings, down 4 places compared to the previous month. GAMBIT made it past the EMEA qualifier for ROG Masters in second place behind mousesports. At EPICENTER, they finished last (ranked 7-8) when they lost to FaZe and Virtus.pro. Meanwhile online, Gambit is still struggling with Virtus.pro in the middle of the ESEA MDL.

This November, they will move to the US for IEM Oakland. With teams like FaZe, G2 and Liquid in the same group, the new Major king must give his all if he is to make it to the playoffs and move up a few places in the rankings.
