CSGO update changes hitbox and tweaks Nuke, Overpass

Valve has just released a CSGO update for the beta server that includes improved game quality, tweaked the hitbox for the neck and major changes to two maps: Nuke, Overpass.

Valve has applied a new neck hitbox, to fix the problem of players not being able to shoot headshots behind the opponent’s back. Bullets that hit the neck and head area will be counted as headshots, unlike before when it was only considered to hit the body. Nuke’s Bombsite B also has important changes, when the vent going from site A no longer goes straight to B. Instead, it will lead to the stairs to a double door. In addition, the small room in B (Toxic) has also been removed.

Here is the update information available in the beta server:

[GAMEPLAY]

  • General adjustment of the sound environment:
    • Increased reverberation effects (in terms of their density and character) for more accurate echoes across the map
    • Some minor tweaks
  • Improved vent breaking sound and increased audible distance
  • Add the ancient hitbox and apply the ancient hitbox to the current character model. Bullets that go through the neck to the head will count as a headshot. This makes neck shots from behind count as headshots
  • Fixed the ‘use’ key to better pick up weapons on the ground and not drop the current weapon if the alternate weapon can’t be picked up.

[MAPS]

Nuke:

  • Optimized for low settings
  • Block gaps between silos in site A
  • Apply changes from ShortNuke:
    • Remove Toxic
    • Vent is no longer directly connected to B, but will have access to a double door
    • Push the inner crates on side B further to prevent the headshot from reaching the ramp
    • The yellow hook in the B site adds opaque color
    • Smooth player movement

Overpass:

  • Ambient sound in Overpass is reduced
  • Added impact area for grenades and players in the net near the construction site
  • Removed the shadow when the character stepped from T main (monster) into BUG

For those who want to test the new features, you can go to the Steam games Library, right-click CS:GO, go to Properties, select the “betas” tag and select “1.36.3. After that, the game will automatically update and you can join the latest update.
