One of the most interesting topics in CSGO is who is the best player. Of course CSGO has stats between players for you to compare easily, but that doesn’t say everything. Teams have different tactics and each player also takes on a different role. In this list, we’ll create metrics that can be applied to every player. Indicators include: stability, influence, role, and competitiveness.
Stability is the average ability of a player to play over a period of time. Influence is more difficult to define because IGL and support players have influence that we don’t see in the server. In this case, influence refers to actions in the game: create space, rotate. Roles show what players do on the team and what they are required to do. Some players have to compete at a higher level in order for their team to function and therefore be appreciated. If two players have equal influence and stability, but the first one with more strong teams, they will be rated higher.
Finally, this list only counts LAN tournaments. LANs are also ranked by format and importance. For example, the Major is considered much more important than the BLAST BO1 or the Summit. The rankings this time last for three months, from October to December. With LAN taking place at the end of the month until the beginning of the new month, they are only added by the time the tournament ends.
LAN:
- Rank 9-12 DreamHack Malmo
- 5th place – BLAST Copenhagen
- 2nd place – ECS 8
- 5-6th – ESL Proleague Season 10 Finals
- 2nd place – BLAST Finals
NAF made the top 10 list for the first time. Thanks to their impressive performances at ECS Season 8 and BLAST Finals, NAF became more stable. He is the second brightest star of Team Liquid and the most stable player on the team against Astralis.
NAF is a difficult player to catch because he plays very flexible, almost in any position, but tends to be more passive. On the other hand, when he plays actively, he plays hard. Out of the 5 members of Liquid, he is seen as the creator of game-changing tackles.
9. Ozgur “woxic” Eker
LAN:
- Rank 5-6 DH Malmo
- Rank 9-12 StarSeries i-League Season 8
- 1st place – CS:GO Asia Championships (CAC)
- 1st place – EPL 10 Finals
- 2nd place – EPICENTER 2019
Mouz had a great journey in December as they continuously won two championships to become the top 5 in the world. One of the main reasons for its success is the AWPer woxic star. Woxic not only took on the carry responsibility with his aggressive AWP play, but he was also a system player and started playing like dev1ce’s AWP.
The main reason woxic made it into the top 10 this time is because of his performances at EPL 10 and CAC. At ESL Pro League Season 10, woxic was one of the stars Mouz needed to win and was the biggest star in the series against Astralis. At CAC, he was the MVP of the tournament.
8. Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson
LAN:
- 1st place – DreamHack Malmo
- 2nd place – SLi 8
- Top 4 – ECS 8
- 2nd place – EPL 10
KRIMZ didn’t change too much as Fnatic got themselves two good results on LAN, including ECS Season 8 and EPL 10. While they were positive results for Fnatic, it didn’t help much for KRIMZ. KRIMZ is still the breakout star in Fnatic, but the progression from his teammates and the arena in general has caused KRIMZ to drop from the previous month.
7. Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski
LAN:
- 9-12 DH Malmo
- 5th place – BLAST Copenhagen
- 2nd place – ECS Season 8
- Rank 5-6 – EPL 10
- 2nd place – BLAST Finals
This month, EliGE became the highest ranked North American player on this list. Like Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and Cvetelin “CeRq” DImitrov, he was hit hard by the ESL New York and StarLadder Berlin Major no longer being counted this time around. All three of these players had excellent performances at those two LANs. Since then, Brehze has not achieved the same form as before. CeRq is still strong, but his December performance was not enough to beat the NAF.
Unlike the stars of EG, EliGE’s stability continues to shine. Although December was not very impressive for EliGE (compared to mid-2019), his level did not decrease. Among the North American players, EliGE seems to be the best and most stable. Therefore, although he is not ranked as high as before, EliGE is still one of the best players in the world and will continue to be in this ranking.
6. Emil “Magisk” Reif
LAN:
- 3rd-4th place DreamHack Malmo
- Rank -BLAST Copenhagen
- 1st place – IEM Beijing
- 1st place – ECS 8
- Top 4 – EPL 10
- 1st place – BLAST Finals
Magisk appeared in the top 10 for the first time and he jumped right up to 6th. Magisk was seen as a hero throughout Astralis’ 2019 journey. Despite the team’s drop in form in mid-2019, Magisk continued to play steadily. Since his revival at the Berlin Major, Magisk has also improved his lurker and CT skills. He is probably considered the best pit player in the world thanks to his spray control and positioning.
Astralis’ dream results in December are what helped Magisk earn this ranking. While he was never Astralis’ MVP in the major tournaments (gla1ve won MVP in Beijing, dupreeh and de1vice won at BLAST), Magisk was the second or third best recruit on those runs. Magisk is more stable than EliGE and that’s why he is ranked higher.
5. Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin
LAN:
- 1st place DreamHack Malmo
- 2nd place – SLi 8
- Top 4 – ECS 8
- 2nd place – EPL 10
Before that, Brollan was the 10th best player in the world. This time, he made it to the top 5. There are two reasons for this change. Both CeRq and Brehze left the list, obviously helping him to rise. The bigger reason was Brollan’s classy performance. At ESL Pro League Season 10, he was the superstar that helped Fnatic reach the finals. Brollan now feels like the main star of the team.
That coupled with the EPL 10 rating is the reason Brollan is marginally better than Magisk. Magisk is more stable than Brollan, but Brollan’s ability to make him the main star of his team and consistently perform at a high level throughout the EPL 10 run. That was enough to put Brollan over Magisk, even if only by a small margin. a little.
4. Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev
LAN:
- Top 4 – DreamHack Malmo
- 13-16 – SLi 8
- 3rd place – BLAST Copenhagen
- Top 4 – EPL 10
- Top 6 – EPICENTER
Na`Vi is finally taking part in more tournaments, allowing s1mple to showcase his talents to prove he’s still one of the best CSGO players in the world. Pity for s1mple. Na`Vi still has shortcomings and cannot advance further in tournaments. This hurt s1mple a bit, but if you look at his performance, he is still the star of the team. Although s1mple is no longer as influential as when he was the main AWP, he is still a force that everyone must be wary of. If Natus Vincere can fix his problems, maybe s1mple will break into the top 3. Although the role is not as heavy as before, he is still the most respected player.
3. Robin “ropz” Kool
LAN:
- Rank 5-6 DH Malmo
- Rank 9-12 StarSeries i-League Season 8
- 1st place – CS:GO Asia Championships (CAC)
- 1st place – EPL 10 Finals
- 1st place – CS Summit 5
- 2nd place – EPICENTER 2019
Mouz breaking into the top 5 in the world shows that one of their players is definitely in the top 5. Out of his three young stars, Ropz is the best. In the previous mouz era, ropz was on a downward trend. He stopped progressing and other teams began to learn how to counter this talent. In Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s system, he evolved.
From tournament to tournament, we see Ropz change from passive playstyle to more active mix. This, along with his game sense and systematic play, makes Ropz a fearsome monster. In Mouz’s journey, he was the MVP of EPL 10, the best player at EPICENTER, the MVP of Summit 5 (though it was a minor one), and the second best player at CAC. With December full of tournaments, Ropz has a better chance of proving himself to be in the top three. We’ll see if he can continue this form next year.
2. Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz
LAN:
- 3rd-4th place DreamHack Malmo
- 4th place -BLAST Copenhagen
- 1st place – IEM Beijing
- 1st place – ECS 8
- Top 4 – EPL 10
- 1st place – BLAST Finals
Dev1ce continues to be stable endlessly. While the StarLadder Belin Major MVP no longer counts, he won another title in ECS 8. Dev1ce remains the most consistent player in history and it’s not surprising that he’s been a key player in their success over the years. by Astralis.
1. Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbau
LAN:
- 2nd place – DreamHack Malmo
- Top 8 – SLi 8
- Top 4 – IEM Beijing
- 1st place – EPICENTER
ZywOo continues to be the best player in the world. He got himself another MVP title. The surprising thing about ZywOo is that Vitality didn’t attend many LAN tournaments in December, but that doesn’t matter. If you look at his games, ZywOo surpasses all standards. No one is as stable and competitive as ZywOo is doing in CSGO. Although he does not have the highest game stats, the French player makes up for it in all other areas. So, ZywOo is the best player in the world.
