Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will probably be ported to the Source 2 engine as early as two months, according to information revealed by many members of the gaming community.

CSGO’s old source engine has helped the game a lot, but it’s too old, making it difficult for the FPS game to keep up with new opponents. Games like Valorant or Overwatch 2 have made Valve more proactive.

Updating the engine to Source 2 has long been requested by players from Valve for years. Now, that may soon be a reality.

In a recent video on Valve News Network, Tyler McVicker said that Source 2 could be out in two months at the earliest – depending on the definition of “Valve Time”. This information was later confirmed by “Nors3”, claiming that “reliable sources” had told him.

“About Source 2 coming out in CSGO 2 months from now: it seems to be reliable because I heard it from reliable sources”, he shared, “but with Valve you are never 100% confident % with an unofficial release date.”

These predictions shouldn’t come as a surprise to many players – they’ve been rumored for months, and years before that. However, as more and more people confirm the release date, perhaps it will become a reality.

The two months from now take place after the original May Rio Major schedule, so the Source 2 update won’t disrupt major tournaments, if the timeline is accurate.

However, if Source 2 is really released, this process will certainly not go smoothly. Update will bring a lot of big things that need to be patched. With the new engine, a year of testing is definitely needed.

The Panorama interface updated in 2018 is considered the first part of Source 2 in CSGO

CSGO has had many Source 2 parts. While the gameplay has not been adjusted by the new engine, the Panorama interface updated in 2018 is considered the first Source 2 array of the game.

Since then, many rumors have confirmed more elements will make their way into the game. Update Dota 2 in February 2020 includes a lot of CS:GO Source 2 code, in addition to updates for render, shadow, and skybox.

While no changes have been made to the current FPS, we can expect the game to have what it takes. The game won’t look any different, but gameplay will be smoother thanks to the new physics and rendering.

Of course, since there’s no official word from Valve yet, we don’t know when Source 2 will be available in CSGO.

However, with the current state of CSGO, plus other FPS competitors, the new engine is considered a way to retain as well as attract more gamers.
