As recorded from Steam Charts, CSGO averaged 417,149 players over the past 30 days, the highest number ever.

The average player count stayed under 400,000 for most of 2019, until this August, when the StarLadder Berlin Major takes place.

There are several reasons for the increase in average player count. The new version of de_cache, one of the most popular maps in game history, was released in October.

This version has been available in the game’s workshop since October 10, and Valve added the map to casual, deathmatch, and scrimmage on October 18. Players can also use the Cache map to compete on third-party matchmaking platforms such as: FACEIT and ESEA.

Majors are also seen as a period when fans return to watch the best teams in the world, and have more motivation to play the game.

But CSGO has yet to break the record for the highest number of players. The peak of the past 30 days was 747,713 players, and this number is nothing compared to the record set in April 2016. At that time, there was a total of 850,485 players after Luminosity won its first Major CSGO at MLG Columbus.

Meanwhile, Dota 2 is having the lowest average player count in the past 30 days: only 398,058. This is a very low number for this game.
