Evil Geniuses became the new king of StarSeries i-Leauge Season 8 after defeating fnatic in two maps.
The North American team takes its second major title and reminds everyone that they’re still in the top team race. EG’s final opponent is fnatic, who won FURIA in 3 intense maps.
Evil Geniuses completely controlled both maps with Brehze being the focal point of the team. After being overshadowed by Ethan and CeRq in the earlier rounds, the 21-year-old bounced back and cornered the Swedish team.
In the early stages of Dust2, Evil Geniuses played incoherently, unable to lock fnatic. fnatic played enthusiastically after the victory over FURIA, constantly catching stanislaw in the mid double doors. The North American team only found the first win round after 10 rounds and more specifically with only the pistol.
That round inspired EG, with Brehze making his own 4. fnatic tried to regain control but couldn’t break through the opposing defense, ending the first half 10-5.
Evil Geniuses took advantage of the morale advantage and crushed fnatic’s defence, equalizing at 11-11. Brollan tried to rekindle hope in his teammates with a quad kill in round eco, but his efforts were in vain. EG continued to control the tempo of the game and finished the map at 16-12.
Mirage started with EG clearing fnatic in the pistol round. The Swedish team responded in the gun round and then went 9-6 at the end of the first half – things could have been worse for EG if fnatic hadn’t given their opponent a free eco round.
After switching to CT, fnatic was beaten to death by EG. Evil Geniuses won 10 consecutive rounds to take home the next big title.
