Remedy, the studio that just won IGN’s Game of the Year 2019 with Control, has just introduced their next project called CrossfireX. The FPS title will focus on the campaign play of the Raid game franchise. While the multiplayer part of the game is no different from Counter-Strike, the new campaign developed by Remedy is heavily influenced by Call of Duty.

Fans will recognize familiar features from Remedy, from the lighting effects to the color schemes in the game. CrossfireX’s campaign uses the Northlight engine that the Remedy team used in Control and Quantum Break – to add a bullet-time effect called Combat Breaker in the game. Just look, without having to play, we recognize a lot of familiar things in the Call of Duty campaign: from gunfights, plot content and characters designed like action movies.

The multiplayer part is divided into two factions: Global Risk and Black List will fight each other to solve world-class conflicts. But this time it’s just you, no co-op, it’ll just be you versus the AI. The campaign is divided into several Operation, putting the player in the role of each faction. Each Operation has three episodes. For example, the trailer shows you controlling Black List agent Luis Torres, handcuffed in a prison van, and taken to a re-education center in a fictional South American city. The prison car was interfered with by a drone flying over the roof and exploding. After that, other Black List agents will free you from the wreckage of the vehicle.

When Global Risk gives chase, this prison truck attack is meant to kill you, not rescue you. The player will hide in a hospital and meet Nicholas Kamara, a Black List ally. Everything from here is very Call of Duty: the gunfights throughout the cinema, the use of fighters to shoot from the plane, the typical Call of Duty chases, etc.

Remedy’s goal in the campaign is “to blend the best of the East with the West. CrossfireX or Raid X will launch this year on all Xbox platforms, including Series X.
