Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Multiplayer and Blackout beta announced

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is getting some significant changes in this series: the game no longer has a traditional campaign mode and will have a Battle Royale. To make sure Battle Royale runs smoothly, Treyarch released two betas for the game: one for multiplayer in August, and Blackout, the Battle Royale mode, in September.

To enter the beta, you’ll need to pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, with a download code sent for the digital and physical versions. Those who participate will be rewarded with a special card when the game officially launches, and those who reach the maximum rank during the beta will receive a token and use it on a weapon or accessory in October.

Like previous Call of Duty games, the PlayStation version will take precedence over PC and Xbox One. The PS4 beta not only allows players to experience before Black Ops 4, but also enjoy more games in the game. Here’s the August multiplayer beta schedule:

  • PlayStation 4 (Starts August 3 and ends August 6)
  • PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (Starts August 10 and ends October 13)
  • PC Beta Early Access (Starting August 10) *Battle.Net only
  • PC Open Beta (Starts at 11 am and ends on 13 August)

The Multiplayer Beta will feature five modes: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Control. Players will be able to play six maps – double the beta of Call of Duty: World War 2 – and you will be able to control a variety of new and old agents.

With Blackout, the beta will begin in September, but the exact date has yet to be announced. The Battle Royale mode remains at the heart of the game for now, and Treyarch has made it clear that the development team “has enjoyed the game a lot” while playing internally.

Treyarch describes the beta as follows: “adding more new content to players sooner than ever,” and for all we know, this beta is indeed packed with content.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will officially launch in October 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
