Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey send players back to ancient Egypt and Greece to kill people. However, Ubisoft does not want to waste historical landscapes for such a mere purpose. As a result, the company has introduced a “Discovery Tour” mode for each game so that players can explore and learn about the ancient history of Egypt and Greece without having to engage in gore.
Discovery Tours will be free in each game, and they can be purchased separately for $20 each. However, for now, you can get them for free on Uplay. However, these two are quite heavy: Origins Discovery Tours is 42GB, while Odyssey is 50GB. This mode allows you to tour the game world, solo or with the help of a digital guide. Odyssey also adds game elements like unlocking avatars and mounts, and quizzes to test your knowledge.
“The idea here is to share the entire world, without putting too much emphasis on the story or the combat in the game,” creative director Jean Guesdon said in the Origins Discovery Tour trailer. “We’ll let you enjoy the whole world, but you won’t be able to interact in the game.”
Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey Discovery Tour are currently free until May 21. Ubisoft has yet to say anything about a Discovery Tour mode for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but the chances of it happening are pretty high.
