Another Blizzard co-founder leaves the company

Frank Pearce rời Blizzard

Blizzard co-founder Frank Pearce has just left the company he founded. He continues the trend of leaving the company of Blizzard founders, started by Mike Morhaime, who left the company in October 2018.

Pearce announced his departure from the company in an announcement by Blizzard president, J. Allen Brack.

“It’s time for me to leave Blizzard and hand over the responsibility to the next generation of leaders,” Pearce shared.

“My journey as part of the Blizzard community began over 28 years ago. Allen gave me the opportunity to join him and Mike in their adventure and dream of making games. Video games are a passion we share together, and I dreamed of having the opportunity to develop games one day.” He said.

“The decision was too easy for me – back then I couldn’t search the Internet for another way to start this journey. Allen’s open letter was the best and only chance I thought I could get. Looking back, I know how lucky I was to be a part of Blizzard.”

The co-founder then thanked everyone he had worked with and recounted fond memories with the company.

“I have been fortunate to work with R and Jay over the years, and now they will be responsible for shaping the next leg of the adventure. They are truly talented, experienced game development leaders, and truly understand what matters most to Blizzard and our community. I know the future of Blizzard will be great under their leadership.”

Blizzard is a special place and a special community, and everyone you meet is important in Blizzard’s journey. Thank you for the wonderful past that I have enjoyed, and thank you in advance for the wonderful future that I believe we will share.”

Brack recalled the first time he met Pearce.

“I was nervous at the time because not only was I excited to join the company I loved, but I was sitting across from one of the founders of Blizzard.”

“Frank can be a little intimidating, and sometimes a little annoying. But inside he was a man full of emotions, and deeply loved by the Blizzard family, and the community of Blizzard games. Frank is also someone I am proud to call my best friend.”

Brack concluded with praise for Frank’s role at Blizzard and his contributions throughout the years.
