Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition will launch on October 15. The official date for the final installment in the remastered strategy trilogy has been confirmed. In addition to the redesigned graphics, the game will have a new mode, a new civilization, and some changes to properly reflect the Indian culture.
Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition will arrive on Steam, Windows Store, and Xbox Game Pass on PC on October 15 for $19.99. You’ll get 25% off Steam if you already own the original AOE 3, or two previous Definitive Editions. Age of Empires 3: Definnitive Edition includes all original expansion content.
The new version will include two new civilizations: the Swedish, focused on military strength, and the Inca, geared towards building massive stone structures. Definitive Edition also adds many historic battles, as well as a new Art of War challenge, introduced in Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition to help players understand the basic mechanics of RTS.
“The main focus of the team at World’s Edge has been to bring the culture and people that are most authentically portrayed in our games,” creative director Adam Isgreen said during the press conference. “While creating Age III:DE, we realized we were not holding true to the values of Indian culture.”
“So members have overcome that, we work directly with tribal counselors to respect and accurately reflect their unique people, history and culture. Old players will notice some changes in the Indian civilization. We hope you will be as intrigued as we are! The team will continue to share this work more as we get closer to launch.”
Currently Age of Empires 3: Defintive Edition has open beta and is expected to continue before the official launch. The official website has details on how to sign up for the beta for you to participate.
