Adobe Photoshop version for iPad is available

The app has been redesigned to fit a mobile device and features many of the important Photoshop tools, especially compositing, retouching, and masking. While it doesn’t have all of Photoshop’s features in the iPad version, Adobe says this first version is just the beginning.

According to Photoshop product manager Pam Clark, the first version of Photoshop on the iPad focused on popular features that Photoshop knew would be useful to most users. Adobe also notes that more features will be added in the near future.

While it’s built from the same codebase as the desktop version of Photoshop, the iPad version of Photoshop doesn’t have all the great features like the pen tool or animation timeline. Adobe also integrated into the iPad version of Photoshop its new Cloud PSD file format, allowing users to sync edits across tablets and desktops.

When a PSD file is in the cloud, its extension will be changed to PSDC. PSDCs automatically save when the user makes edits and can be saved in Creative Cloud and other cloud storage locations in addition. Users can use Photoshop on iPad or desktop when there is no network. Edits will be cached until the device reconnects to the internet.

Photoshop on iPad has a toolbar on the left, which contains tools like brush, type, clone stamp, healing brush, and lasso. The right toolbar will be photo editing tools such as brightness, contrast, hue and saturation, …

Photoshop on iPad is only available to Creative Cloud customers. Otherwise, users will have to sign up for paid plans, the cheapest of which is the Photography plan ($9.99) which includes Lightroom and Photoshop.

Because it is a newly launched application, Adobe is still working hard to update more features for users to have a more enjoyable experience.
