Cyberpunk 2077 suddenly runs faster with just a very small trick

Cyberpunk 2077 was officially released and immediately made gamers cry because of its crazy ability to kill hardware. However, the poor frame rate is probably not entirely because of your PC configuration, but partly because of a technical error in the file of Cyberpunk 2077.

There according to the discovery of Reddit forum member nicknamed ThePhoenixRoyal, the config file of Cyberpunk 2077 PC version has the same VRAM limit as the Console version. This gamer soon realized something was wrong when configuring the CPU: i7 4790K 4.4GHz, EVGA 1080Ti graphics card, with his 32GB RAM only running 30-50 fps at the lowest graphics setting. This made the guy decide to tinker with the game file and soon discovered something was wrong.

Accordingly, when accessing this file, you will only see 1,536MB allocated to PoolCPU, which is only part of the 8GB required by the game. The PoolGPU part is also only 3GB, equivalent to the GPU of PS4 and Xbox One. Therefore, to “unlock” the unused power in the PC configuration, you need to tweak this file according to the following formula.​

• With PoolCPU, fix 1,536 to 50% of the total RAM you have. For example, if you have 16GB of RAM, push the number in the file to 8GB.​

The feedback of some gamers on the Reddit forum after tweaking this file has significantly increased the frame rate with an improvement from 25 fps to 50 fps. Some others do not see much improvement but in return the game is stable and no longer lags as much as before.

Of course, ThePhoenixRoyal’s warning is that gamers may experience crashes out of the screen and get errors. So be careful when doing this.​
