Fortnite Battle Royale: 5 survival tips

With the huge success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, it’s no wonder that other game makers are trying to grab this lucrative bait. And Epic Games is no exception, they have created their own survival game called Fortnite. Replacing zombies with dozens of other players, you are forced to fight to become the last survivor. The combination of PUBG gameplay with the Fortnite building system has created a new breeze for the Battle Royale series.

But to be able to win in this game is not an easy thing at all. That’s why this tutorial was born!

1. Choose the drop location

When the flying bus takes off, you will have a limited time to land on the island. The bus flies straight and changes direction with each match.

Going down without mental preparation will definitely get you an early ticket home, so you need to determine the direction of the flight carefully. Cities teeming with fast food restaurants and gas stations are sure to have items worth picking up. Obviously, you are not the only one with that idea, there will be many competitors who want to land in these positions.

There are many separate houses very high on the hilltops. And like above, you will probably have to fight for them. Although the furniture may be less, you will also meet less other players. Isolated areas in lakes, swamps, and forests can be good drop sites. However, in these ‘monkey ho storks’ places, you need to be agile to escape in time. Depending on your strength, plan accordingly.

2. Check every nook and cranny in every house

You land on the ground and move to safety as quickly as you can. It could be a house, a shop, or just a warehouse – but they can shield you from being shot.

It was clear that the warehouse or the cabin didn’t have much to explore. Large houses or abandoned prisons will have more valuable things, and you need to explore them as quickly as possible.

This means checking every nook and cranny of every room to find the real deal. But you should always listen for golden chests as they may be nearby. If you’ve looked all over the floors and can’t find them, try looking for the ceiling. There are many attics that only need to be fitted with stairs to be able to climb.

And don’t forget to destroy household items to collect building materials!

3. Move only when necessary

Once you’ve cleaned the house, you’ll be tempted to run around to collect more items. Please restrain yourself.

A lot of people want to be the last survivor, but having a safe hiding place will help you achieve that. Defense, good vision and clever traps are what you can count on. It is the safe mecca that you will get.

Of course the storm will start and force everyone to move into the center gradually, but that doesn’t mean you have to move right away unless absolutely necessary. If the storm doesn’t sweep your shelter, don’t move. Let the opponents deal with each other. If the storm does pass, you will know where it will return and how much time you have left to get there, best to be careful.

4. If you don’t have a shelter, build one for yourself

Construction is an important part of Fortnite, you can build with wood, stone or iron. The PvE portion of the game uses this system to build barracks and protect you from zombies.

In Battle Royale, you don’t have to fight zombies, but other players. Building a house and hiding in it is not a great idea in this mode because you have to constantly move. But don’t forget it’s still an option that can save you.

If forced to move into an open space, build some walls yourself. Since the game’s launch, many players have turned the desolate fields into fortresses. If you find a hiding place and can fix the walls, then do it because you can! And if there’s no need to repair, sometimes it’s helpful to upgrade the building to give you a better firing position.

Also, create your own paths. If you don’t want to take a detour to get up the hill? Build your own stairs to get up. This tactic can take you directly to the second floors of a building or roof.

And don’t forget that everything that can be built can be destroyed. If you know someone is hiding in the room above your head, but the way upstairs is full of traps and gun muzzles waiting, break their floor! Or you can use this to get out if you hear footsteps approaching.

5. Taking advantage of the storm

Storms are considered the greatest danger – apart from the remaining 99 on the island. As the center of the storm shrinks and your comfort zone diminishes, feeling left out of the circle can be terrifying. However, it will help you in some cases.

For every second outside of the storm circle, you lose 1 health (through armor). The longer you stay out of the ring, the more health you will lose. With that said, if you’re one of the last survivors and the circle is shrinking, hiding out of the circle to avoid enemies might be a good idea. Remember, when there are only a few people left, the only mission is to win the match. So keep healing items in case of these situations.

The scope of the storm will be greatest in the early game, but as time goes on it will start to move. It also moves more slowly at first, so if you’re still not in your comfort zone a few minutes before the storm begins to shrink, don’t worry. Plugging the neck plug and running into any shelter will easily put you in danger when there are still 60-70 people around. But don’t let that show. The chances of the storm catching you are very low if you move steadily. Sticking to the ring is also a good tactic if you have to move.

Extra bonus: don’t try to go to Airstrip Island (Airstrip Island)

Outside the main island, the bus will sometimes fly near this island. There will be times when you are curious to know what’s in it. It’s best to restrain yourself.

The island will become more and more clear as you fly down, then you will realize that is where the bus departs. And when you get close enough, you will land in ‘water’…! Because there is an invisible wall and you will slide slowly to the bottom of the deep sea.
