Astralis recently announced that at the BLAST Pro Series tournament as well as in the final matches of ECS Device will be sick, dennis and Pimp will stand-in for Astralis.
The Danish AWPer fell ill before IEM Oakland, causing device to miss its first game and have the worst individual performance on LAN. After the tournament, the 22-year-old player had to go to the hospital to check his health problems.
Device’s inability to play, forced Astralis to find and replace him for the rest of the ECS games, as well as the BLAST Pro Series in Copenhagen. The organization has announced that Jacob “Pimp” Winneche will be replacing in the ECS, and Dennis “dennis” Edman – still on the bench at GODSENT – will play with Astralis on LAN.
Astralis coach is Danny “zonic” Sørensen explain the current situation:
“First of all, we are very sorry for Nicolai. He, like everyone else, is looking forward to playing at home at Ryoral Arena. I know he’s willing to do anything to play. But health must come first and he needs time to fully recover and come back stronger.”
“We will bring quality stand-ins, along with the rest of the members who will give their best. They will be representing the team as well as dev1ce in the coming weeks! Dennis is a top player and I’m delighted he agreed to play in the BLAST Pro Series. I know Dennis well and with him we’re going to have an active, good shot and one of the best pistol shooters on the market. You will see an Astralis more passionate than ever.”
Device said competing in BLAST is a no-no as he may not perform well and live up to everyone’s expectations:
“I was very surprised when I was hospitalized in Oakland and the flight home after that was not fun at all. I’m feeling better now, but I’m still going through a lot of tests. The timing is bad, I’m looking forward to playing at home in Denmark but health comes first and I’m sure I’ll get a chance next time.”
“I can’t play to my full potential and people’s expectations and there’s no question I’ll play or not. The doctors are checking because they still don’t know what these symptoms are, but right now I can’t compete either. I would love to get this resolved to come back as soon as possible. I know everyone will give their all at the Royal Arena, and I will definitely be watching and supporting them at home!”
Astralis will now use the following lineup until the device returns:
Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen
Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth
Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander
Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye
Jacob “Pimp” Winneche (ECS stand-in)
Dennis “dennis” Edman (BLAST stand-in)
Danny “Zonic” Sørensen (Coach)
Nicholas “device” Reedtz (sick leave)
