PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ next big update, patch 12, is coming to PC soon. The update will be available on Thursday today. The update will also restart the leaderboard and the new season will begin once the maintenance is over.
This is one of the biggest patches of the game, including weapon balance and map selection for PUBG. The update also adds a muscle car for the Miramar, a 7.62-ammunition DMR called the SLR. This vehicle is exclusive to the Miramar map and can be found in densely populated areas and on main roads.
Miramar has also been expanded, with a new oasis area added, the number of houses in several towns reduced, hiding places added to vacant areas, and more.
Regarding map selection, the developer explains that players can choose the map they like (Erangel or Miramar) to make sure they can play it, or they can choose multiple maps and the game will automatically choose.
Update 12 also brings some new weapon attachments, each with their pros and cons. Shotgun has Duckbill, while assault rifle, SMG, DMR have Light Grip, Thumb Grip and Half Grip.
Players will find two new types of scopes: 3x, which drops quite commonly, and 6x, which is rarer. The patch also allows the player to change their aim (circle, center, etc.) and the color of some of the targets.
Extended and quickdraw magazines for snipers are only available in crates dropped from planes. Extended quickdraw magazine spawn rate for assault rifle has also been reduced. Here are the weapon damage and balance changes:
- Pistol damage increased
- Shotgun effective range increased but spread rate decreased by 25 percent
- Assault rifle damage reduced, except for Groza and AKM
- Reload time increased by 30% for M16A4, M416 and SCAR-L, but AKM only increased by 10%
- Scope 8x or higher no longer attaches to assault rifle
- SMG damage increased, except for Tommny Gun, and will now deal more damage to limbs
- Vertical recoil and swing when aiming while moving AD (left step, right step) reduced
- VSS and Mini14 are the only DMRs with damage buffs, while SKS is nerfed. DMR will now be harder to master as horizontal and vertical recoil will combine to make it difficult, plus recoil recovery time is also reduced (meaning the gun will take longer to fire without recoil)
Grenade (grenade) is now heavier, but deals more damage. Level 3 hats are now only available in air drops, but players will definitely get one in every air drop.
“This is a game changer – it basically grants an extra life when a headshot kills you,” the developer says. “We don’t want to let luck determine who will pick this up, so it won’t appear in loot locations in the game and is limited to the inventory from the plane.”
In addition, the movement while swimming and the time holding your breath in the water have also been reworked. That means you can’t stay underwater to dodge bullets anymore.
PUBG Corp also revealed some information about its plans for the Savage map, saying “we still have a few months to perfect,” but describing the map’s features as follows: underground cave system. Unfortunately, we players have to wait longer for Savage to be able to air.
