When VGJ.Storm reached the finals of the MDL Changsha Major, the only thing that came to mind was that Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok had won again. In theory, this team has no international experience except for Resolut1on. VGJ.Storm performed well, and Resolut1on was the glue everyone could rely on. There are very few teams that can combine and play so well at once. Yet we have not only seen him once, but three times on three different teams. Resolut1on has proven himself to be one of the best players in the world and he has traveled the world. He is a mercenary of Dota 2.
Resolut1on is one of the most talented players in the CIS region, but he always had to play for the CIS tier 2 team, Empire. Empire’s problem is that every time it looks like they’re going to break through, someone takes a player from the team and everyone has to start from scratch. The history of ‘blood change’ in the Empire is so complicated that it is called Byzantium (the city of Istanbul, whose history is constantly changing). Despite those changes, there are times when it seems like you can believe Empire is going to be a strong contender. At StarLadder StarSeries Season 9 in 2014, they got 2nd place after beating Alliance, iG and EG to reach the final round. With a different lineup, they won MLG Proleague Season 1 against EG in 2015. And that same year, Empire won the Dota 2 Champions League.
But those flashy moments were not enough and forced Resolut1on to take another step in his career. After leaving Empire, he joined Digital Chaos to transform himself with the North American players. The team was later replaced by the following names: Resolut1on, Aliwi “w33” Omar, David “Moo” Hull, Rasmus “MiSeRy” Filipsen, and Martin “Saksa” Sazdov. It’s a team consisting of redundant members from top teams that no one wants to play with. At the beginning, things were very chaotic. Nothing worked and MiSeRy remembers the “tears of tears” moment when he said to the team “We beat like sh**” during the bootcamp. This team performed miracles at The International 6 as they reached the final. Resolut1on is the superstar of the team and he proves to the world his deep skills.
Digital Chaos began to slide down without being able to get up. DC has potential but plays at an average level. The team then disbanded before TI7 and Resolut1on had no team so it was decided to cast TI7. At the same time, Empire has a visa problem and needs a replacement for the event. This is a team that no one expected and is expected to be eliminated from the group stage or the regular match in the main round.
And that was the opportunity for this player to step into Empire. With no time to prepare, Empire seemed to be leaving soon. Instead, the team quickly found a way to play around Resolut1on. Resolut1on once again became the star of the team and the move that helped the team win. This has been a great journey for Resolut1on and teammates as they survived the group stage and then eliminated Cloud9 and EG to make it to the top 8 at TI7.
Right after TI7, people realized Resolut1on’s carry ability. So in the next blood change, OG decided to recruit him. OG was one of the strongest teams in 2016-2017 and many believe that Resolu1ton will make them a contender for championships. However, that never happened. OG struggled throughout the year and never reached their previous form. There are many reasons why the performance of OG players has fallen: differences in the meta and patches that don’t match their playstyle, lack of chemistry between the members and Resolut1on’s playstyle.
Revive Resolut1on is the solution for OG to recover in Dota 2
Resolut1on and OG go their separate ways, so he can once again do what he loves. This time he joined the team that was almost unknown. The players include: Yawar “YawaR” Hassan, Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu, Arif “MSS” Anwar, and Avery “SVG” Silverman. With the exception of MSS, none of the team members have a significant international record and they are stuck at the Dota 2 regional qualifiers. Even so, the team still has potential when it comes to qualifying for GESC: Thailand and MDL Changsha.
As soon as Resolut1on joined and became the must-have formula for the team to excel, they won GESC: Thailand after beating Fnatic and Keen Gaming. It’s a decent title. What surprised everyone was his MDL Changsha Major journey. In that tournament, VGJ.Storm finished second in the group, beating OG, Secret, and VG to reach the final. Unfortunately, they are completely inferior to the incumbent LGD, but overall this is still a respectable achievement. In this journey, the most memorable moment was when I met OG. In that series, OG tried to gank Resolut1on with all their might but he outplayed his old teammates.
Resolut1on is a great player with a legacy that is completely different from other carries in the Dota 2 world. Because Dota is a team game and it’s a game where the outcome revolves around the core cores of the team. In the case of Resolut1on, the team revolves around him. He moved from area to area, team to team. In unbelievable circumstances, Resolut1on has risen above and shown the world to be among the best players out there. He showed up, surprised everyone, and left quickly. Now, he is playing with VGJ.Storm and together they have become the best team in North America. VGJ.Storm is currently one of the most formidable names in the Dota 2 world.
