There’s a lot to think about in the next update, including changes to Devils, Assassins, Guardians, and other systems. Even the underlying system was changed. So this will definitely be a big update and will make the current meta change dramatically. And there is one notable change, which is the remake of the Knight.
Remade Knight
Before we dive into how the meta will change, let’s start with Knights. Previously, the Knight effect would block basic attack damage from enemies for Knight-type champions. However, now the Knight will no longer be like that. This is a pretty big change and the mechanics of the Knight will be completely different from before.
After the update, not only was base attack damage blocked, but all enemy damage was reduced. Damage blocked is now less than before, but it is more effective to block all types of damage.
The damage reduction mechanism now doesn’t just buff only Knights anymore, but it now buffs your entire squad, only needing 3 Knights to get the bonus. With 3 Knights, your squad will block 15 damage. With 6 Knights, it will block 30 damage and will increase to 55 damage when there are 9 Knights.
How will these changes affect the meta?
These changes have a very clear impact. Previously, the Knight’s buff was often used against Archers and Assassins, but it was too much countered by magic damage and Void. But now the damage blocking mechanism has changed.
With all damage reduced, Void will no longer be a counter for Knights. With the reduction of all damage types instead of just reducing base attack damage, magic damage is no longer a counter for Knight. Now the Knight will become very strong in the front line and can cope well with different formations. And the fun won’t just lie on the front lines anymore.
You can now apply this damage reduction to Assassins because Knights now buff the whole team. That makes Assassins less risky when jumping in the middle of an enemy team. Likewise, if you combine Knights and Gladiators, your squad will have both more health and less damage. This buff makes tanker champions more buff and provides a bit more resistance to your main champion. And it will completely change the current meta.
