Dota 2: Valve’s anti-hacking fix may be catching innocent players by mistake

Some recent Dota 2 players are using command scripts to crash the server. Valve just released a new update last week to detect players trying to do this, but it seems that it does not stop at hackers but also attacks innocent gamers.

According to recent news, hack script is constantly present in Dota 2. It seems that some people use it on the server, so as not to lose MMR. If a certain number of players are disconnected from the match at the same time, the result will not be counted by the system as a server error. Therefore, in theory, those who are likely to lose their MMR in that rank match could protect their MMR if they exploit this vulnerability.

Now, as noted by dotesports, the new anti-hack update can immobilize player-controlled heroes – they don’t take commands from players. Valve’s update is used to detect command scripts, blocking a huge number of commands in a short time. Therefore, the sudden blocking of normal players is not part of Valve’s plan.

According to the Dota Stats team Stratz_ken explained on Reddit, taking advantage of the noise generated by in-game items, such as Shadow Amulet, and then “scripting it so that the sound plays for all” – creating the phenomenon of extremely loud sound in the game (please turn down the volume if you plan to watch the video in the Reddit post). According to the article, Stratz_ken said that hackers can create about 700,000 item “events” in a game, while the average number is only about 50.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to fix this error, as many other people have had the same problem. Some said reconnecting or restarting the game did not fix it.
