In the past two days, many female figures in the esports world have spoken out about being sexually harassed. One of the alleged names is Dota 2 caster Grant “GranDGranT” Harris. He was accused of sexual harassment by two women. After these allegations were acknowledged by GranDGranT, Evil Geniuses, the organization he is working as a streamer for, decided to cut ties with this caster. EG spoke out on the matter on Twitter.
Effective immediately, Grant “GranDgranT” Harris has been released and is no longer a member of Evil Geniuses.
We have a zero-tolerance workplace policy, and take any accusation of harassment, or a violation of our policies handbook, seriously.

Grant’s name was mentioned when caster @cofactordstrudel told two stories of sexual harassment at a post-TI7 party. Although both names were not mentioned at first, she later revealed that one of them was GranDGrant. Grant, who had a crush on her at the party, smeared her and refused to let go of his hand.
Fuck it. The hand-grabby person was Grant Harris.
He didn’t hurt or threaten me (well, he hurt my wrist a little bit not letting go when I pulled). Just made me feel gross and slimy. https://t.co/P7W2LfobMl— 707 in a sun dress hacking police radios coz BLM (@cofactorstrudel) June 22, 2020
After revealing, Grand apologized and accepted that he behaved wrong.
No one should ever feel uncomfortable or slimy in any situation or at an event , What I did is inexcusable alcohol or not, And I sincerely Do apologize for the pain I put you through. Thank you for opening up to me when I messaged you, You didn’t have to.

However, things did not stop there. Dota 2 coach and analyst Anthony “Scantzor” Hogson spoke about the same things about GranDGrant and the caster hasn’t been criticized for harassing women in the long run. In her statement, Scantzor gave the example of GranDGrant harassing and pushing caster LlamaDownUnder out of the Dota 2 community, to the point that she had to sue Grant.
We’ve all been far too quiet for far too long about Grandgrant. He has for years shown a consistent pattern of behavior of harassing & degrading women. Most notable case we know about is LlamaDownUnder. She was a fast-rising Dota 2 caster. And then she wasn’t. Grant did that.

This statement added fuel to the fire and the comment regarding Grant became a hot topic on Twitter and Reddit, with many condemning the caster’s actions. Faced with great pressure, Grant later apologized for his past behavior and said he would be leaving Dota 2 for a long time, if not forever.
I just want to apologize to everyone in the Dota Scene, the things I have done in the past really are Just horrible to look back on. I have worked on myself over the last few years , and have tried to better understand people and better understand me.

ill be Leaving Dota and the Esports Scene For A long time if not permanent. I dont want to make this about me though, I want to Say, I hope the people who dont feel safe do feel safer, and I hope Dota becomes an overall better esport over the upcoming years.

Grant’s dark past was one of the names that came to light. Women in esports are speaking out about these events and many more names to come. Let’s hope that the esports community learns from that and makes esports a warm and welcoming place for female gamers and people in general.
