Blizzard is developing a new FPS game project

Blizzard Entertainment’s recruitment page is posting many positions for the company’s next project. One of them is a “combat developer” to work on an “unpublished project”.

“Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a passionate and talented senior combat designer with experience in FPS design to lead the combat system for an unannounced multiplayer project,” the job posting read.

Overwatch is Blizzard’s first FPS game, released in 2016.

In addition, the job posting requires that the candidate, “must have experience designing gameplay, controls, weapons, and skills for modern AAA multiplayer titles” and that they must have “passion and knowledge.” about the Blizzard brands.”

In 2018, IGN said Blizzard was continuing to develop FPS games from the engine the company had built since 2016. It’s currently unclear if this new location is the same project.

It’s also possible that this project is related to an existing Blizzard franchise.

Earlier, an article from Kotaku revealed that Blizzard canceled the plan to develop an FPS game for Starcraft (using the Overwatch engine), to focus on Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4.

This information is relevant because on the job page there is mention of shared engine. Not to mention, a position requires technical expertise in automation. Candidates are required to have experience in “developing cross-platform AAA titles”.

Blizzard’s latest cross-platform games are Overwatch and Diablo. Speaking of Diablo, the previous recruitment that was looking for a production director for the Diablo project has not been announced.
