Tencent makes more money than Microsoft and Nintendo combined

Tencent’s revenue in the last quarter of 2019 was about $5.22 billion, more than Microsoft and Nintendo combined according to revenue reports from ForexSchoolOnline. The list lists the biggest players in the gaming industry in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Tencent owns many major global companies: including the entire Riot Games, 40% stake in Epic games, 84% in SuperCell, and a small part in two popular series, Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed. They are also a game operator in China with the WeGame platform, which operates similarly to Steam. However, Tencent not only makes money from video game development, they also own the third largest Android app store in China: Tencent Appstore. The group also operates social network and mobile payment platform WeChat with more than one billion monthly users.

The report also states that Nintendo is fifth with $2.28 billion, Microsoft is fourth with $2.83 billion, Apple is third with $2.88 billion, while Sony is second at $3.879 billion. In the last quarter of 2019 alone, there were nine companies with more than a billion dollars in revenue.

This news comes after Epic Games sued Apple and Google for removing Fortnite from their app store. It is not excluded that Apple and Google are targeting Tencent when we are all under whose management Epic Games.
