League of Legends fans around the world have been sharing a lot of things by Riot Games during the game’s 10th anniversary. No one expected Riot to have so many new projects.
From card games to animated series, the LoL fan community and video games in general are stunned by the new names that will be released in the near future. Here are the most anticipated projects that Riot will launch in 2020.
1) Project A: A new world tactical shooter based on Riot’s characters
Riot has created many side game projects – like Mechs and Minions or Teamfight Tactics, and they all revolve around the universe of League of Legends. On the other hand, Project A will be Riot’s first attempt at entering the universe of new game genres. The tactical shooter will take place on Earth in the near future with a series of new unique characters, possessing their own unique skills.
This project has surprised all fans. There is not too much news that Riot is developing a shooter and the genre is completely different from what they think the company is developing. But the news about Project A caught the attention of many people, including professional FPS players from CSGO and Overwatch.
Riot said fans should not expect too much information beyond the first announcement, but the gaming community and esports world are extremely eagerly waiting for news about the game.
2) Project F: RPG/MMO game based on the world of Runeterra
Fans don’t have too much information about this game from Riot, but this is a game that the League of Legends community has been discussing for a long time. Riot finally shared a small information about this MMO title, Project F.
We only got a glimpse of the game during the 10th anniversary stream, but that was enough to get fans excited. The developer said that the purpose of Project F is to find a way for players to explore the world of Runeterra. It has a deep plot and history and many places and characters in it.
Therefore, a lot of people have been waiting for this news since Riot co-founder Mark “Tryndamera” Merrill asked if the company will develop such a game in 2018. Although fans should not expect much from Project F until next year, but we are still patiently waiting for a miracle from Riot.
3) Legends of Runeterra: New digital card game
The most developed game in Riot’s new projects is the digital card game, Legends of Runeterra. With the game currently in beta, many famous streamers have started writing tutorials and releasing gameplay for fans to follow.
Everyone can pre-register. Once approved, you can download the game and experience it for yourself. Legends of Runeterra with a neat interface, owns an easy-to-understand gameplay system.
LoR seems like a fast-paced game with a good balance of RNG issues, and the ability to allow players to take control of their own destiny while fighting others. The game will be cross-playable between PC and mobile platforms.
4) League of Legends and Truth Arena on mobile
One of the biggest announcements while Riot started the anniversary stream was the announcement of League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics to mobile.
There are many games similar to League of Legends on mobile, but fans will soon be able to play League of Legends on Android/iOS. Specifically, LoL is confirmed to be not a direct port from PC. Instead, Riot redeveloped the game from scratch and released a mobile version called League of Legends: Wild Rift.
Wild Rift will be faithful to most of the gameplay design of League of Legends. But there are some big changes in the game that League of Legends players need to adapt to. For example, warding has been completely reworked, and the game will have no Inhibitors.
TFT (Truth Arena) will of course come to mobile because other autobattler games are very successful on this platform. It will increase the number of TFT players because people can play some games quickly when they are not on the computer.
5) Arcane: Riot’s new animated series
After years of releasing epic music videos and movies, Riot is finally focusing on making an animated movie about the most popular characters in League of Legends.
Arcane will take place in Zaun, the polluted city below Piltover. The story will revolve around “the origins of two iconic League of Legends champions – and the power that will divide them.” Several champions will appear, like Vi and Jinx, both from Zaun.
This cartoon can explore the relationship between two characters. There are many rumors and speculations suggesting that they have a connection that the players were not aware of before. We will learn more about the world of Runeterra.
