We’ve had great FPS games in the last few years. While the Battle Royale genre is still rocking the market, the industry still has Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Doom (2016), Dusk, Arma 3, Deep Rock Galactic, and Insurgency 2 to keep the FPS genre cool.
2019 won’t be much different, with more FPS sequels or brand new titles. Here is a list of FPS games worth keeping an eye on in 2019:
GTFO
Developer: 10 Chambers Collective | Release date: Spring 2019 | Links: Steam
The game combines the Alien style with the four-player co-op mode in Payday. GTFO’s studio says they’ll be using Expedition Director, which puts players in new challenging situations during levels. While the game doesn’t have the airy, laid-back gameplay of Left 4 Dead, GTFO is definitely one of the most hardcore games of the genre. An FPS game that relies on teamwork and coordinated stealth moves in dark caverns, against monstrous creatures.
Except for medics, the game will not have healing. Ammo is scarce. If you die, you will not respawn at the checkpoint. The computers in the map are not simply pressing a button, but it is a software emulator that requires you to type syntax from your keyboard. According to the first gameplay trailer, one of the game’s monsters appears to be dark – they only show up when you shine a light on.
Due Process

Developer: Giant Enemy Crab | Release date: Alpha “coming soon” | Links: Steam
With gameplay inspired by Rainbow Six, Due Process is an indie FPS game with Time-Crisis style sports graphics. The game first appeared in 2014, but now in partnership with publisher Annapurna Interactive, everything about the game looks very promising.
Doom Eternal
Developer: id Software | Release date: Unannounced | Links: Bethesda.net
Perhaps the most interesting addition in the Doom sequel is the new Invasion mode – your single player campaign can be infiltrated by another player, adding depth to the game, and this person can play the role of a single player. Monsters in the game. Meanwhile, SnapMap has been removed but we will have many other types of multiplayer, this time developed by id itself. More importantly, Mick Gordon also returned to take charge of the music.
Quake Champions
Developer: id Software | Release date: Unannounced | Links: Bethesda.net
After Early Access in August 2017, Bethesda’s multiplayer FPS game is likely to leave that phase in 2019. In December 2018, FPS changed to the Battle Pass business model from the previous loot box system and added into the CTF.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries
Developer: Piranha Games | Release date: September 10, 2019 | Links: mw5mercs.com
17 years since PC got the singleplayer, the first FPS BattleTech, Mercenaries is now in the hands of Canadian developer Piranha Games. This studio has spent years developing multiplayer MechWarrior Online. A 4-player co-op game with the option to use AI if you want, that’s one of the game’s strong points, along with its demolition system and beautiful game environments.
Wolfenstein: Youngblood
Developer: MachineGames | Release date: Not announced yet
Chapter three of the MachineGames trilogy this time focuses on BJBlazkowicz’s twin daughters – the couple will participate in co-op in this game campaign. We don’t know much more than that the game is set in 1980, about two decades after The New Year Colossus initiated the “Second American Revolution”. Let’s see where Youngblood will take players in the world (or in the universe).
Mavericks Proving Grounds
At this point, the big battle royale titles are not inferior to the Dota 2 and League of Legends games. But if you had to choose a game that can win millions of players from Fortnite and PUBG on PC, maybe Marvericks will do it.
Biggest difference: Mavericks doesn’t build on Unreal 4, but uses new technology that promises 1,000-player capacity, weather changes, “complex” destruction, wildlife, and details like footprints imprinted around a 16x16km wide map.
The beta that launched in March has only 5 players, but even though it’s in its early stages, we can expect to see some new elements in this battle royale game, allowing players to try out new strategies and gameplay. PUBG’s technological hurdles in the game’s second year further show the importance of the underlying platform, and SpatialOS is the platform that allows for massive player counts in the same game.
Ion Maiden
Developer: 3D Realms | Release date: Q2 2019 | Links: Steam
The first chapter of this retro game is here, but the rest can’t be out anytime soon. What’s innovative in Ion Maiden is the way the game exploits aspects of the ancient Build Engine and applies modern ideas in weapon design and levels. The result is an FPS title with the best recipes from the shooters of the early 90s.
Metro Exodus
Developer: 4A Games | Release date: 15 months | Links: Steam
Artyom is back, and this time he has a train for himself. Instead of damp tunnels, Artyom and his wife Ana will travel the Russian railway tracks in search of something to call home. Of course, you will face mutant monsters and many nazi sects and gangs in the way.
Metro Exodus this time gives you more space when facing enemies. The open train tracks lead to vast environments for you to explore, like a jungle campground teeming with bandits – but they’re actually campers who survived, guarded by their teachers. myself when I was a kid. If you do your research, you will notice that they have been divided into small groups, each of which decides to apply the lesson they are being taught in different ways. Metro’s bullet currency system has also been replaced with a crafting system that uses scraps the player collects along the way.
RAGE 2

Developer: Avalanche | Release date: May 14 | Links: Bethesda.net
Inheriting the original that came out in 2011, adding more enemy tools and adding pink to the post-apocalyptic world, we have RAGE 2.
RAGE 2 seems to learn a lot from Doom, this game will expand in the open world with a lot of new weapons for you to use. While it’s not clear what the means of combat will be, the trailers suggest that they will be an important highlight of the game.
Dying Light 2
Developer: Techland | Release date: 2019 | Links: DyingLightGame.com
One of the most anticipated FPS games of 2019 in the zombie genre, but will focus more on fighting humans. Inheriting from the first, Dying Light 2 expands on all aspects: More weapons, more parkour, and more freedom.
The dark world set in the zombie apocalypse gives players a lot of options in this unnamed city in Europe. The conflict over control of the sewers means you can either side with those who want to bring justice to all or side with the band of bandits that control the city’s water. Game designer Tymon Smektla says there will be moments where good and evil aren’t so clear, so you feel comfortable making choices in the game.
Aftercharge
Developer: Chainsawesome Games | Release date: January 10 | Links: Steam
Three stealth robots try to destroy six “light spots” around the map. Meanwhile, three stealth guardians work together to protect them. Each party has the right to choose one of the available classes. From the trailer above, we can see that the defensive side is favored quite a lot, but on the offensive side, they also have a lot of power to use: grids, stealth grenades, and health shields.
Far Cry: New Dawn
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal | Release date: 15 months | Links: Far-Cry.Ubisoft.com
Someone looked at Ubisoft and said that Rage 2 was “not pink enough”. The post-apocalyptic setting in Far Cry New Dawn doesn’t look as bleak as many games we know. You’ll still be doing Far Cry-style stuff in Hope County, but the weapons won’t be as good as they used to be. Instead of tweaking basic weapons, you’ll have to collect scraps and attach them together with duct tape and zinc, like a crossbow made from motorcycle parts that shoots saw blades.
New Dawn will also follow the RPG gameplay of Assassin’s Creed, everything is level-based, including characters, weapons, and even enemies. For those familiar with Far Cry 5, you will meet old teammates from the previous season as well as new teammates, but don’t expect Boomer to return. 17 years after the events of Far Cry 5, this dog is dead, said creative director Jean-Sebastien Decant game.
Halo Infinite
Developer: 343 Industries | Release date: Unannounced | Links: Xbox.com
This is definitely Halo 6, this is definitely the next story of Master Chief, Halo Infinite will use a new engine called Slipstream and it has been optimized for PC. People still don’t know much about the plot, but Halo 5 has turned Cortana into a villain, most likely to appear in this part.
As for gameplay, the game is expected to feature multiplayer, split-screen and online, Spartan customization, and possibly no battle royale.
Atomic Heart
Developer: Mundfish | Release date: 2019 | Links: Steam
The game somewhat reminds us of BioShock and Metro, but developer Mundfish says the game is more inspired by Soviet-era sci-fi movies.
You are a secret agent in the unreal Soviet world, a world filled with robots, zombies and crazy experiments. You need to solve the mysteries at Plant 3826 as well as other landmarks throughout Russia – they are linked by rails. It is not clear whether Atomic Heart will be an open world game or take place in tunnels. Mundfish says you can take advantage of “anything on your journey,” whether it’s kitchenware or robot parts: they can be crafted into weapons or mods.
Blood Remastered
Developer: Nightdive Studios | Release date: Not yet announced
Doom may improve the graphics, but Blood Remastered remains faithful to the previous graphics, and we will get this game from the same team that remastered Turok and the upcoming System Shock. The original Blood is fine, so Nightdive will focus on improved colors, more compatible engines, updated sound, and support for contemporary networks like Steamworks and GOG Galaxy.
If you’ve played the original, Blood is about a gunman who died in the 19th century, seeking revenge against the dark god – Tchernobog. True to the name of the game, you will have a lot of methods to turn monsters into blood fields.
The Outer Worlds
Developer: Obsidian Entertainment | Release date: 2019 | Links: Steam
The father of the early Fallout games, Obsidian this time introduces us to The Outer Worlds, a potential FPS/RPG game. You are an astronaut, hibernating for 70 years until a mad scientist decides to wake you up, asking you to rescue the other astronauts. True to the Obsidian style, the player is not subject to any constraints: you can follow the rules or break the rules in your own way. The game will have a lot of gunfights with “scientific weapons”, chat and stealth.
Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass
Developer: Croteam | Release date: Unannounced | Links: Steam
The Serious Sam shooting brand is probably too familiar to gamers. Shooting delight is what you will do in the game. Alen Ladavac, Croteam’s chief technology officer, says the “Legion System” allows hundreds of thousands of enemies to appear on the screen at the same time.
