13 PUBG shortcomings that need to be overcome

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ Early Access phase ended in December 2017, but the game hasn’t changed much since. The developer tried to fix the game before the 1.0 release, but we didn’t get much after the official release. Here are 13 things that PUBG should pay attention to now and in the near future:

Need to fix the error

Sound

After officially launched, the sound of the plane has been reduced, but it still causes ‘deafness’ for players. As for rain, it was removed because on average 10 people leave the game as soon as they see rain. Now all sounds can be adjusted with a control bar. We should have separate controls for the sound of planes and the weather – if rain returns to the game, of course.

The balance of effects in the game has not been fixed yet. Footsteps are barely audible during shooting, driving and bombs exploding in the red zone – they’re very realistic, but even Brendan Greene admits that the sound set needs improvement. If you turn the volume up all the way, you could damage your ears from the gunfire. Even if you don’t care about your health, playing games at high volume while wearing headphones is almost impossible: you will startle every time someone attacks. There were some players who turned the volume down, but it was too hard to find the enemy. You cannot determine the direction of the bullet no matter what the setting is. Last October, Greene said that the developer would fix the issue, but it seems no one has mentioned them since.

Recode the network system

The game uses too many algorithms on the user’s part, and it affects our gameplay. The latest, smoke is completely different: you can step into the smoke area and still be seen by the enemy. Everything is calculated on your computer and then sent to the server server – this is not suitable for poor network conditions. In this case, PUBG Corp. is curing, not preventing (finding the source of the problem).

Millions of people get banned every month in PUBG – and the number of hackers continues to grow. An example from CS:GO shows that the more algorithms are calculated from the user’s computer, the easier it is to create a hack: in January, aim hack was added to ReShade software (improves in-game graphics) . The developer decided not to fix this problem: they blocked all software like ReShade with Update #5. Anti-cheat BattlEye starts to prevent apps from affecting the game.

Low tickrate

Tickrate is the amount of information sent from the server to the player per second. The higher the Tickrate, the higher the accuracy of our interaction with everything around us. Tickrate in Overwatch is 60, Rainbow Six Siege is 64, and CS:GO is matchmaking 64, only tournaments and private servers can reach 128. In PUBG, this number varies from 10 to 30. Before January 30 , things are even worse.

Worse, the early game tickrate is only about 15. In professional competition, very few people shoot at the beginning, but it’s completely different in the regular game. There will be situations where you die while standing behind cover or not dealing any damage. In R6, this issue has been fixed since update 1.6 – hopefully, PUBG Corp. will pay attention to this matter.

Clothes

The attachments are usually located in the house with the weapon and other items, but the clothes can be worn before the game. Shirts and pants consume server resources to load them and cause distraction in the game. The problem is, an attachment or silencer can be hidden under a t-shirt. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem as items can be found in the Inventory window – clothing on the ground is simply a nuisance.

Still not optimized

FPS drops below 120 are common even with video cards like the NVIDITA GTX 1080, even though the game is using the Unreal Engine 4 model standard. Sometimes, updates not only affect the graphics, but also affect the performance. to the whole game. It also happens in CS:GO. However, in CS:GO, the FPS usually only drops to around 60. As for PUBG, it doesn’t reach 20. On last February 6, the game became many times slower because of the 29MB patch.

You can’t configure the video to be worse. First, at low video profiles, everything is still too detailed. Second, you need to render in-game with PUBG’s ultra-wide map. In September 2017, the developer turned on ‘post-processing’ for all players – FPS dropped dramatically. PUBG Corp. then optimized other effects before the 1.0 release, but if the graphics had to be changed again to make the game fair, the aspect ratio would definitely drop again. For example, PUBG Corp. will eventually increase the render distance of the grass: it’s only 200 meters now.

Exercise regime

PUBG is difficult for beginners: you can pick up a good aiming gun but always miss. One side argues that survival games shouldn’t have a training mode – but H1Z1 has one.

There is a shooting range in Erangel, but no moving targets

If PUBG Corp. don’t want to do tutorial creation, they should at least add a training mode in the free map. Brendan Greene hasn’t ruled out creating a zombie mode and adding a self-made map mode later on – however, new players won’t wait years for these to come out.

More servers

Players are not allowed to create their own servers. They do not exist in early access. In July, the developer started accepting profiles of famous streamers. Now all professional players, even tournament organizers and even soccer players have their own servers, but not for casual players. It’s naive to think that hundreds of millions of dollars in PUBG revenue will be spent fixing bugs and adding 10 maps in the game, but not being able to add servers in the game.

Currently PUBG does not have enough servers for matchmaking. Servers Southeast Asia and South America still do not have first-person mode for duo. Meanwhile, they’ve been available on other servers since August. Everyone has to either play two against four (squad) or play TPP (third person). The same problem was happening at the server in Russia when they started operating: they promised to open this server early this year.

Tournaments in the game

External PUBG events with their tight schedule and complicated scoring system confuse the average player – but we also want to participate. Such tournaments already exist in Dota 2 and League of Legends, and will soon be tested in Rocket League. Greene promised to finalize this idea in PUBG, but there has been no word since October.

Reward for climbing rank (ranking table)

We can see the win rankings, lives, and all the stats in the game, but they’re just for show. For games with in-game transactions like FIFA and Hearthstone, the player receives a card. In Dota and League of Legends, they get skins. In PUBG, we have keys to open crates – they can be used as rewards.

Statistical Index

When you are killed by another player, you can check information about the enemy. After the match, you can see what percentage of the enemy you hit and how much damage you deal. In PUBG, you can only see the number of kills and the amount of virtual currency in the game. Of course, you can review replays to see how you died, but a little statistics can help less patient gamers better understand their mistakes.

Choose your own map

The game has enough players for both Erangle and Miramar maps with an average online population of 1.5 million. In addition, PUBG also had a bug after the desert map was released: players had to play this map 10 times in a row. Then players have to wait for the patch to come out to fix this problem.

Professional players are the one that suffers the most. ESL and PGL, the two biggest PUBG event organizers, still hold tournaments using the Erangel map. Teams have to play in their own server (not everyone has their own) and constantly leave the lobby if they land on the desert map.

PUBG Corp. has begun to reveal the new map in Adriatic Sea. If map selection is still not added to the game when the new map is released, the chances of playing your favorite map are definitely lower.

New dance

The strengths and weaknesses of each gun are now too obvious. But PUBG Corp. still not balance the game every time new guns are added. As of June they have only added Mini 14 and Winchester 94 for main guns. And Winchester 94 is only available in the desert map.

The developer has yet to add modern guns to the game: no P90 or Mp7. Map-exclusive guns can also be added: like the Desert Eagle in Miramar and SVG in Erangel. Although the SVG gun is not modern, it fits the context of the map: Erangel is an abandoned town in the former territory of the Soviet government (Soviet Union).

Adding in-game details makes PUBG more interesting. It would be a good idea to add the option to find the next match in the death screen. Minimap will become more convenient if you can zoom in and out. The early game plane flies in a certain direction, so PUBG Corp. There is no longer any reason to hide this information from the player.

It will be interesting if the developer adds group skins and clan creation mode in PUBG. For now, you must create the group through Steam. If a player buys PUBG on another platform, every time they do, they have to find you by nickname. Team play is more fun – why don’t we help squad mode?

In the fall of 2017, the PUBG developer stopped adding new content to complete the game in time for the release date. Version 1.0 was out, but for the next month and a half, what we saw were patches. The publisher hasn’t shared much of its plans yet: this past September, we only learned more about the third map, the night mode for the current locations. It’s clear that PUBG is doing everything to fix the bug. However, this process will never end. Meanwhile, players always want new things so they can continue to enjoy the feeling of being the last survivor in this battle royale battle.
