‘You can’t live your dream forever’

The 2018 Dota 2 Asia Championship will be held at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center from March 29 to April 7. DAC is considered one of the biggest tournaments in China and for legendary Xu “BurNIng” Zhilei, This is an extremely important milestone in his career. In the first DAC 2015 tournament, BurNIng won 4th place with Team Big God. And at the DAC tournament last year, 2017, BurNIng defeated OG in the final round to join Invictus Gaming to become the champion.

Later this month, BurNIng will return to the DAC for the third time, but as a special guest at the event. How will BurNIng feel when his former teammates are still playing professionally? What is BurNIng’s life like after hanging the mouse? Huomao had a simple interview with B-God to find out the answers!

This will be his third time attending DAC. The only difference is that on the previous two occasions, he participated as a player, winning 4th and 1st place. What did the previous two DAC seasons mean to you?

DAC is the biggest tournament held in China. Every time I attend DAC, I feel like I am representing the home team and that helps me to be more motivated mentally and physically. I accomplished a small goal of mine when we won DAC season two.

As a special guest at the upcoming DAC, he will be meeting his old teammates from IG, as well as Mushi and LaNm from his time on Team DK. Even Fear, who is the same age as him, returned to the competition after hanging up the mouse. Watching them compete, do you feel like you want to return to the pro scene?

I want to go back to playing professionally, especially when I see my old teammates still fighting. However, there are many other things to do in life. After playing professionally for many years, my health deteriorated and I neglected my family, friends and wife. You can’t go on living your dream forever.

Since he retired, he started to focus more on streaming and casting. Since TI7, Chinese teams are no longer competing as before. What do you think is the big difference between the current Chinese and Western teams?

The play and tactics of the Chinese teams are still too one-sided and their ability to improve is still not good enough. As I remember, Western teams would improve their laning, their role, or their playstyle to compensate for the disadvantage that occurred in their draft.

Which teams do you think will be contenders at the upcoming DAC?

With Chinese teams, I think VGJ.Thunder and LGD Gaming. With Western teams, I think Evil Geniuses, Virtus.pro and Team Secret.

He had learned a lot of techniques from Sylar before that. How do you think the carry role will play in the current patch? Can you share your experience with fans?

I feel the carry role is very important now. The first is because the offlane is nerfed, the carry needs to put pressure on the opposing offlaner effectively early in the game. As for the late game, carry can now use Nullifier to take down important targets to end the match.

There are two types of carry. First, heroes like Dragon Knight, Death Prophet and Lycan rely too much on the tempo of the game, and once you’ve reached a certain level and have enough gear, you can lead your team to fight, push towers, rush in and cause damage. pressure on the opponent. The other type of carry is called “cancerous” (cancer). You just have to practice turng farm until ripe and just push. With type two, you need to take advantage of your level and items in the mid-late game to beat your opponents.

Since his retirement, he still keeps in touch with fans. Since then, what are your plans for life? Planning to have a baby?

I myself still suffer from OCD (full focus syndrome) where if I want something, I will always focus 100%. For now, I still want to focus on streaming and casting. Therefore, I will focus on recovering myself and then start thinking about having a baby.

Finally, is there anything you would like to say to the fans?

Thank you to all the fans who have always supported me. In the past, I always did my best for the fans. Now, I will continue to create interesting and useful streams for everyone, of course I will not forget to cast professional matches.
