Destiny 2 is a game that takes up a lot of hard drive space. But with Shadowkeep coming out in October, the game will become even more cumbersome. The Steam version of Destiny 2 will eat up 165 GB of your hard drive.

Destiny 2 currently takes up 87GB of hard drive when installed via Battle.net, and that’s counting all the extra content over the past two years. VGR said Bungie sent an email, indicating the game configuration required when switching to Steam and adding Shadowkeep. Notably, then the game will require up to 165 GB of hard drive space.

If you head over to Destiny 2’s Steam page, you’ll find that the storage requirement is higher than the current 105GB. The difference may come from the free New Light version of the game, and according to Bungie’s estimates, Shadowkeep will take up another 60GB.

In other words, if you’re planning to play Destiny 2 on an SSD, it might be worth considering whether your current hard drive will be enough when the update comes out in October.

Hard drive space requirements are similar for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles. Shadowkeep brings Destiny 2 players back to the Moon area from the original Destiny, and this time, the map will be twice as large. That explains the increased installation capacity so much.
