E3 2020 is only four months away, and many game publishers around the world have already confirmed their presence at the event. Companies like Microsoft will showcase announced products like the Xbox Series X, while others continue their annual tradition of sharing new games.
Notably, Sony decided to skip E3 for the second year in a row, especially as their flagship PS5 console is about to launch. Although not the publisher, producer Geoff Keighley also skipped the event. Obviously, we can see E3 2020 will have differences compared to previous years. However, this is still the hottest traditional game event of the year.
The two big companies that will be present in Los Angeles, USA this year of E3 are EA and Nintendo. Nintendo will continue its Direct presentation while EA stays true to the EA Play event. Here are the game companies confirmed to participate.
BETHESDA
Bethesda is back for a fifth appearance at E3 2020. The company was heavily criticized after Fallout 76, but they still have two projects to look forward to. Starfield was announced by Bethesda at E3 2018 and their product still has a long way to go before it hits the market.
Similar to The Elder Scrolls 6, the game was also announced at E3 2018. A breath of fresh air from this super RPG will make people forget about Bethesda’s recent difficulties. Also, a few things the company might announce include a Switch port for The Elder Scrolls Legends and The Elder Scrolls Blade. The company may update or share an expansion for Doom Eternal, the game that launches in March.
NINTENDO
Right now, Nintendo doesn’t have as many games to share as Sony or Microsoft. There are a few titles that will draw crowds, but unless Nintendo hits all of its tricks at E3 2020, there’s a good chance they’ll fall behind the PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, the company says it doesn’t feel it must compete directly with Sony or Microsoft because the Switch has its own playground. (but it’s also a console in itself).
Some of the games Nintendo was able to share at E3 include No More Heroes 3, Bravely Default 2, and ports of newly released games like Doom Eternal (coming out in March) and The Outer Worlds, which was delayed. postponed due to Corona virus.
Of course, Nintendo could also introduce something new like The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2. The first is still one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful games of all time, so the sequel is Next will definitely help them catch up with the competition. Recent rumors about Breath of the Wild 2 suggest that Zelda will be playable alongside Link, and that Dungeons are said to bring the game to life in a new way.
Or an announcement that Nintendo may make at E3 2020 will be a game related to the Metroid Prime series. Four versions of Metroid Prime are expected to arrive on Switch, but Nintendo has only confirmed Metroid Prime 4. From reliable sources, the Metroid Prime trilogy and part four are said to be games that will appear at E3 2020.
SQUARE ENIX
Another company that often holds press conferences at E3 is Square Enix. With Marvel’s Avengers delayed to September, there’s a good chance they’ll show off another trailer or gameplay demo of the game.
In addition, if you want to play more “luxury”, Square Enix can announce the game’s plan, maybe a season pass, for example. Or they could offer some paid expansions slated for release to keep players engaged, or free DLC characters.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is another game Square Enix could discuss at the event. The game will be released in April, before E3 2020, which means Square Enix can update more content for the game. If the company really wants to get fans excited, they can release the next chapter for FF7 Remake.
Otherwise, Square Enix will likely introduce Babylon’s Fall, the latest game from Platinum Games. The game trailer released at the end of 2019 shows that more information about the game will be shared at the summer, ie E3 2020. Square Enix may also reveal Outriders, the Destiny-style shooter, developed by the studio. People Can Fly from Bulletstorm and Gear of War Judgment.
UBISOFT
With E3 2020, Ubisoft’s press conference will focus on the company’s most valuable games for next year. Among them will likely be the presence of five AAA games, which are expected to be released in the last few months of 2020 until March 2021. Three games are Rainbow Six Quaratine, Gods and Monsters, and Watch Dogs Legion. These games have been delayed in the past but look set to launch next year, especially Watch Dogs Legion.
E3 is the flagship event for Ubisoft to launch the new Assassin’s Creed, so fans who have high hopes for Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok will be here. Although the release date is not clear, Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok will be available this fall as Ubisoft says this will be the year that the franchise launches a new version. This new game also marks the beginning of a long series of expansions that will be released in the coming years.
Otherwise, fans can see familiar things from Ubisoft. Just Dance 2021 will probably be announced like every year. Far Cry 6 is also likely to be included if the game is in development.
XBOX
Microsoft is in a special position in E3 2020. Once again, the big guy doesn’t have to worry about Sony gaining traction at the hottest gaming event of the year. However, the big difference from last year is that PS5 and Xbox Series X will launch this year. Therefore, Microsoft will hold a big at this E3.
The main focus will certainly be on the Xbox Series X. Microsoft will dive into the console during the press conference. Maybe we will know about the Xbox Series X price.
What is not clear is how many versions Xbox Series X will have. Many rumors suggest that Xbox will have a stream version, but Microsoft has only introduced the high-end Series X. Microsoft will probably announce a cheaper version of the console at E3 2020.
The second big theme at Xbox’s E3 2020 will be exclusive games, like Halo Infinite. If it weren’t for the new console, Halo Infinite would probably take up most of the meeting time. Fans will likely know more about the single-player campaign that 343 Industries has improved for the next generation of consoles.
Speaking of 343 Industries, Microsoft may also introduce some new games from its 15 studios. Microsoft has been actively building the team inside over the years to support the future of Xbox Series X. With the new consoles, fans can see some of the products that Xbox studios are developing.
Fans can also expect third games to appear during Microsoft’s press conference, given Sony’s absence at E3 2020. Big companies like Activision could introduce the next Call of Duty, while Bandai Namco becomes the next game. back on the Xbox stage to talk more about the Elden Ring, or Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red.
ACTIVISION
Activision has many projects. Recently, the company’s management emphasized that it wanted to revive classic brands like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. Rumor has it that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 are being developed by Activision. While the music copyrights of these games are a headache, it’s understandable that Activision decided to remake them.
It’s also possible that Activision will bring some games in development by Blizzard like Overwatch 2, for example, but the company often uses E3 as a launching pad to introduce the next Call of Duty game.
BANDAI NAMCO
The two big games that Bandai Namco can bring to E3 2020 are Tales of Arise and Elden Ring. The new Tales game is designed to be darker than the other parts of the series but still retains the elements of the RPG series. Elden Ring initially gained a lot of attention as a collaboration between From Software director Hidetaka Miyazaki and A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) author George RR Martin. Miyazaki describes Elden Ring as the next evolution of the Souls series and that the game will bring new mechanics like horseback riding.
Warner Bros Games
WB Games Montreal is constantly teasing a new Batman game. It’s highly likely that it will be shared a bit at E3 2020. As mentioned above, third-party game publishers can rely on Xbox’s press conference to introduce new games, which means games can be run. by xbox Series X. Rumors of the Batman game suggest that the game will allow players to control the entire Batman family.
Not much is known about Rocksteady’s latest project. Many people have wanted the studio to make a new Superman game with the style of the Arkham series, but the studio seems to be aiming for something bigger. Maybe they’re working on a Justice League game? Hopefully Rocksteady will reveal something at E3 2020.
