HLTV interviewed Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev about the past two games, steady performance in the final stages of the group stage, and Na`Vi’s goal in the playoffs.

Going back to the game against Liquid, it was a rematch from the New Challenge round. How did your team get into this match?

First, we knew the map was going to be Overpass or Inferno, because Liquid played really well against FaZe in Overpass on the T side. Everyone also knew they might be afraid to play us at Inferno, because Na`vi started first beat other teams on this map.

We watched Liquid’s demo and knew they loved hitting A’s, they loved deploying from banana, they liked going four longs and a lurk from the toilet. Na`vi started well, but in a few rounds we lost 4v2 and 4v3, but electronic saved those two rounds. It was a good game for us.

So how about fnatic matchup as well?

Yes, but it’s hard to predict which map it will be against fnatic. We know their strongest map is Inferno, our strongest map is also Inferno, but people expect to play in Train first, and of course Cobble. Kane and Zeus wanted to lure fnatic to pick this map, because it’s fnatic’s fifth or sixth strongest map.

The team’s journey throughout the group stage and so far has been rather erratic, until Na`vi won two straight games comfortably. So have you guys gotten over this issue, or is it still something everyone is trying to fix?

In the first match of the qualifiers and the Major’s match, after we won, we lost confidence, everyone’s morale dropped. We are well aware of this issue, so we have worked and talked with the management a lot. Ugin, he’s like a psychologist, so he helps us out a lot before each game so that people just focus on Counter-Strike, not letting other games get in the way.

We don’t joke before the game. Sometimes there are jokes, but everyone understands that from that moment it will be very important for the members to be as focused, focused as possible to win the match.

Can you guys do it in the inner circle? Now that the team has three more rounds, it will probably have to practice more. So, how do you feel when you get to the inner circle?

We’ll probably face QB Fire, SK, or a team with a 3-2 record, so everyone should prepare for the opponent ahead. I hope there will be computers in Boston like Atlanta so the members can practice and watch demos together.

Now we have nothing to lose, because I feel very afraid of not making it to the next round, having to leave from the group stage. Since a lot of people are expecting us to be in the top eight, CIS fans, so… now Na`Vi will do whatever it takes to prove that she is becoming stronger and stronger.

How far do you think you can go, what are the team’s goals once you’ve made it to the next round? Simple step by step?

Yes, step by step. Of course the teams have the main goal to win the Major, but everyone should start from zero first.

Who will be the biggest opponent this time?

Will be FaZe or SK. FaZe because they have become super strong and SK, even if they have felps, we see this team from Brazil can do well, they are very confident in this tournament.
