Opening the playoff round of DAC 2018 saw the matches end in just 2 games, 3 home teams were eliminated on the first day. ViCi Gaming is the only Chinese team to survive today’s massacre.
OpTic Gaming vs Invictus Gaming
Invictus Gaming found its way into the playoffs despite a rather poor performance in the group stage. On today’s match day, after 2 out of 5 Chinese teams have left the Major, iG is considered not to be the home crowd. OpTic, meanwhile, performed well in the group stage, but lost on the last day of that round, forcing them to participate in a tense match in Group A.
The start of the first game saw the two win a few lives and turret 1. Even though iG had more kills, OpTic was the side that benefited in terms of net worth. OpTic continued to widen the lead and grabbed aegis to push the high ground at 20 minutes. Here, OpTic struggled against a resilient defense from iG, with plenty of buybacks from the Chinese team to push back OpTic. After clearing the mid barracks in the next push, OpTic took Roshan again and returned to push the top. iG had no way to fend off the massacre and was forced to type gg for just over 30 minutes.
The next game, it was the exact opposite: iG took the lead despite having fewer kills as they kept pressing. A teamfight occurred in the Roshan area when the two competed for Aegis. Here, OpTic got himself a shield, but in return, the whole team was wiped out. Thanks to srf’s bounty hunter, iG quickly widened the gap, it looks like the team will level. But OpTic wasn’t ready to surrender, as Pajkatt’s Phantom Assassin began to disrupt iG’s lineup. Not long after, OpTic forced iG to knock GG and win 2-0.

In the end, the 2-0 victory belonged to OpTic and iG was the 3rd Chinese team to be eliminated. Meanwhile, OpTic will face Mineski in the next round.
Team Secret vs Vici Gaming
China’s last hope lies with ViCi Gaming and they have to face a formidable opponent, Secret. VG passed the group stage by winning the ticket. Meanwhile, Secret is not only doing great in the group stage, they are also looking to get some more DPC points at this Major and have a high chance of qualifying for TI8.
The first game was quite slow, as both teams focused on farming and pushing turret 1. Things only started after 12 minutes when the network started to increase between the two sides. Secret was the lead team when they beat Roshan. The two sides struggled and it seemed that Secret was always the superior team when the battle broke out in Roshan. However, Vici Gaming wasn’t ready to surrender, even though Secret won the turret. The Chinese team cleared the opponent and pushed up to take the middle barrack and Aegis. Thanks to that, Vici Gaming got the first win for the Chinese teams.
Game 2 started, again, the match was fairly even but Secret still had the slight advantage. But once again, Vici fought back with all their might and by the 30th minute, they had cashed in on Roshan, won teamfight and won Roshan. After capturing barrack in bot lane, Vici was almost unstoppable and they eliminated barrack top lane. Although Secret held out a bit, they couldn’t do more and the victory belonged to the Chinese team – also the only home team to succeed on day one.
