VGJ.Storm is the new king of GESC: Thailand Dota 2 Minor

The final Minor of the first season of Dota 2 Pro Circuit ended with a final between two teams that couldn’t get a direct spot from The International, so the DPC score of this tournament doesn’t really matter.

Keen Gaming has had a great run at this Minor after the group stage – when they won only 2 bo1 games. In the quarterfinals, Keen Gaming defeated Evil Geniuses and next, this dark horse also knocked Team Secret to get a place in the finals. With a fast and aggressive fighting style, the Chinese boys have brought down the previous big boys. However, their roster change just a few weeks earlier meant that this DPC score would not be counted towards the previous team. Therefore, this is the last attempt for Keen Gaming to claim DPC points.

VGJ.Storm is similar to Keen Gaming, as they changed their roster in the middle of last month, but the members still have a chance to try out at the Super Major and MDL Changsha. VG.Storm performed better than their opponents in the group stage and the victory over Fnatic is the motivation for the team to strive to bring glory to North American Dota.

The final match made KG speed up the game and constantly put pressure on the opponent to gain a steady advantage in the early game. However, everything gradually slipped into the hands of VGJ.Storm when the NA team continuously benefited in the teamfight phase. Sneyking’s Abaddon created a lot of space for Resolut1on’s Gyrocopter farm and helped the team win against KG in the 40s.

The following game forced KG to win to equalize or leave with a 0-2 defeat. Once again, Keen Gaming had the early game advantage but MSS’s Tuskar made great rotations, constantly trapping opponents with shards. VGJ.Storm’s Draft is creative and their moves are near-perfect. This makes the opponent unstoppable and every member of the team shines.

While Keen Gaming showed tremendous power, taking down both Secret and EG at this event, their journey unfortunately ended in the tournament with a runner-up position. VGJ.Storm won the GESC: Thailand Championship with Resolut1on getting the best KDA of the tournament.
