Valve delays TI10 and Dota Pro Circuit indefinitely

The International 10 will be one of the biggest events in esports history, but no one knows when it will happen. After a long period of silence, Valve has updated the situation of TI10 as well as Dota Pro Circuit. Unfortunately, this update does not have clear information. The news was shared on Twitter as follows:

In the following how the pandemic has been developing globally, the recent increase in the unpredictability of COVID-19 means we can’t yet commit to new dates for TI10 and the DPC. We share your eagerness in returning to these events, and will announce updates as soon as we can.

Due to the current pandemic situation, Valve has no plans for TI10 or the future of Dota Pro Circuit. This is clearly bad news for the professional Dota 2 arena.

TI10, Dota Pro Circuit indefinitely delayed, future unclear

In March, Valve suspended the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit season indefinitely since the ESL One Los Angeles Major. Then it was the turn of the OGA Dota PIT Minor 2020 and the EPICENTER Major 2020 which was canceled. The Dota Pro Circuit was later dropped entirely from the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2020.

In the meantime, Valve delayed The International 2020 and said it would revisit it in 2021.

TI10 not having a clear plan is not surprising news given the current pandemic situation of the world. But the indefinite delay of the Dota Pro Circuit is more shocking news.

The Dota Pro Circuit 2020-2021 season is scheduled to begin this fall with the switch from Major LAN tournaments to online regional tournaments. When Valve reported that TI10 was delayed, they still confirmed that online tournaments were still going on as scheduled.

The OMEGA League is considered a major highlight tournament in recent times, with several regional minor tournaments taking place. This is not only inconvenient for players who want to participate in heavyweight Dota 2 tournaments, but also causes many players to lose the opportunity to earn money from the game. It is possible that several tournaments can be organized to fill this gap and many organizers are having a headache when they do not know what to do because the DPC continues to be delayed.
