Valve just revealed the changes to the Artifact beta last week. The company says it will be changing the card game title based on the success of Riot’s Legends of Runeterra open beta.
And most recently, Valve released its Artifact 2.0 development plan.
The Artifact 2.0 journey has officially begun, with many streamers like Kozmic and CHARM3R receiving beta keys. Valve hasn’t said when the open betas will begin, but they are being prepared.
- Check and send a letter to participate in closed beta
- Closed beta development to gradually move to open beta
- Leaving beta earlier than Dota 2.
Notably, the game’s earnings system will no longer include card sales, along with changes to allowing players to access all three lanes at once and a new Draft mode.
“We focused on making the game easier to play. The team won’t sell cards, so you won’t meet opponents with a wide variety of decks. We also added a new draft mode, Hero Draft, for you to try out existing decks without pressure.”
Players will receive cards through gameplay. But for those who have put money into the previous Artifact, they will almost lose those cards forever. The old cards are no longer usable because so many changes have been made. The game still costs $19.99. Players who already own the game do not need to buy the game again.
