CSGO New Bot Framework Smart AI - Emergenceingame

Valve has just released an update for CSGO to apply the bot’s decision-making capabilities. This will probably pave the way for super-intelligent AI in this FPS title.

‘Bot’ is the term used in the game. New players are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the game by playing with the game’s AI at a low level. Meanwhile, at a high level, calling a player a bot is considered an insult, disparaging that person’s skills.

However, bots are slowly being improved, and CSGO is next. Valve has updated it to make Deathmatch bots smarter, and it could revolutionize the meaning of bots in games.

In a September 16 blog post, Valve made a small change to the AI framework – it could change the way bots are perceived in CSGO.

According to some members of the CS community, they have already felt the change in the game. They are not just characters roaming the map – bots can duel players.

User “iTzR4nger” said “using AI to improve bots is really cool and can make deathmatch more fun and more difficult”, while “Wintermute1v1” notices bots that “play proactively and act behave more like a real person.”

This can make the ‘warm up’ in Deathmatch more interesting, even though the server is full of bots still helping you to warm up for real people. Maybe in the future, we go to Deathmatch just to practice with bots without needing real players in the map.

Meanwhile, AI in other games has started to compete with professional players and can crush them.

In Dota 2, the OpenAI development team created its own bot system, OpenAI Five, based on machine learning. OpenAI Five had defeated the then-time TI8 OG champion in the BO3 series, achieving a 99.4% win rate in over 7,257 head-to-head matches against real players online.

To Starcraft II, Google’s DeepMind destroyed professional players Dario “TLO” Wünsch and Grzegorz “MaNa” Komincz with a 5-0 white victory, before participating in a ranked match with the name “AlphaStar”. The bot has an estimated MMR of over 7,000, ranking first in the Starcraft ranking system.

Although Valve has no plans to test AI with professional players, they are aiming to do so in the future. For now, let’s test the quality of the new bot in Deathmatch!
