Ubisoft announces the first details about the next season of Rainbow Six Siege

Ubisoft has announced new details for the next season of Rainbow Six Siege, including the name: Operation Para Bellum, borrowed from the Latin word for “ready for war.” The announcement also gives us our first look at the two new operators as they make their way across wheat fields to an Italian vineyard.

The two operators in this picture that match the leaked information in March, are named Maestro and Alibi. The drawing also gives us a glimpse of the new map in Season 2, which Ubsoft calls “the most competitive map ever.” After the special interior design of the latest map, the Tower, the design of the vineyard that we see in the image is more like the traditional Siege map, with the outside area going to be similar to the wineries. .

Ubisoft also confirmed several new things in Operation Para Bellum, including a “crawling toy,” a map buff for the Clubhouse, a Ban/Pick mode for a custom game, a new defuse effect, and a number of bug fixes. This information-gathering toy seems to be alluding to a bulletproof camera, the second accessory that has appeared in the Test Technical Server (test server) that some defenders can use. The camera has certain limitations (it can’t be cast from a distance like the Valkyrie’s black eye camera) but is bulletproof from the front, can see through smoke, and highlights enemies in yellow. It’s basically the Glaz scope camera version.

Also appearing in the update on the Test Technical Server (TTS) is a buff for Echo’s Yokai drone. Echo will have two drones controlled at the same time, which teammates can see through the drone’s camera, and he can scan objects like any other camera. It’s not a huge rework, but it does make the Yokai drone more useful even after Echo is dead.

The “dropshotting” issue, where players quickly lie down while aiming, making them harder to kill without affecting their aim, will also be fixed in Para Bellum. Dropshotting has been around in Seige for a while and has created a gap between exploits and skill. After many fixes on TTS, Ubisoft finally applied it to the official server.

Full details on Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Para Bellum will take place May 19-20 at the Pro League Finals in Atlantic City, the event streamed on Twitch. Assuming Ubisoft remains faithful to the two-week TTS release schedule with Para Bellum ahead of launch, we can expect the official release to arrive in the first week of June.
