Try Monster Hunter Rise Demo on PC: What’s outstanding compared to the Switch version?

With many significant improvements, the PC version of Monster Hunter Rise is the “genuine” version of the game.

Building on the success of Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise is a better sequel in many ways.

The game completely exploits the slightly old hardware of the Nintendo Switch, becoming one of the best looking and performing games on a handheld console.

The good news is that PC gamers will finally be able to experience this game with the PC version to be released on January 12, 2022. Recently, the demo was also announced.

So, what makes this version different from the Switch? And if you’ve played on Switch, should gamers start from scratch on PC?

The first factor we have to talk about is that the game’s resolution has been enhanced. The game has support for 4K resolution and super wide aspect ratio, which are nice additions that any PC port should have.

Even on a standard 1080p laptop display, images are sharper than on the Switch version, which runs at 756p when connected to a monitor, dropping to 540p in handheld mode.

Personally, I think the Switch version works very smoothly. RE Engine is so well optimized that 30 FPS of the game is almost 60FPS smooth.

Play PC version with unlimited frame rate? The difference is extremely clear. Having a high frame rate gives the player’s movements more precision, which is extremely important when we are talking about a game where the number of frames of a movement is essential.

As for the exact content of the demo, it’s relatively similar to the limited-time demo that Switch gamers received earlier this year.

In the demo, you can choose to hunt three different monsters representing 3 difficulty levels: Great Izuchi for beginners, Mizutsune for advanced players, and Magnamalo for veterans.

So besides the graphics, is there any other reason why Switch gamers have to consider playing from the beginning on the PC version?

The point that makes Monster Hunter really interesting, is to cooperate with friends to hunt giant monsters. The Switch system does this, but because there is no voice chat option, player communication is significantly limited.

PCs don’t have this problem, that’s because we can communicate with each other through third-party applications like Discord while playing.

Thus, it can be concluded that if possible, gamers should really experience Monster Hunter rise on PC.
