For centuries, “Yokai” – mythical creatures with evil magic have become an important piece of the spiritual subconscious of the people of the land of the rising sun. Japanese children are raised from terrifying folk tales associated with Yokai and grow up with a fascination with mystical creatures. To this day, the world of Yokai has always been something haunting but extremely fascinating, an endless inspiration for manga, anime and the electronic world. Come to Ikaiplayers will deeply feel the extreme horror when faced with monstrous ghosts and bizarre spiritual beliefs that have been deeply rooted in the subconscious.

Ikai is a new psychological horror game from the indie game developer, Endflame. Inspired by the terrifying folk legends of Yokai of Japanese culture, Ikai immerses players in the exploration of an abandoned temple in feudal Japan. The foliage is dyed red by blood, the temple bells are ringing, but this is no longer a sacred place, saving people’s beliefs. The gods have gone to give way to the Yokai – monsters, demons and spirits.

Naoko, a priestess suddenly awakens between the four lifeless walls of the shrine and must face countless Yokai to bring peace to the place. Invisible deformity, fear from the subconscious is always the most crisis people. Charms also appear in the Ikai trailer. Perhaps the player could draw charms and use them to ward off or seal Yokai.

Be quiet, or the demons will wake up! Currently, Ikai has released a demo and will officially be available on Steam for PC in 2021.
