Tracing the real-life locations of Pokemon games

In the games Pokemonplayers will find many beautiful, colorful landscapes, ranging from peaceful fields to simple villages or bustling bustling towns, Pokemon Sword and Shield Is no exception. Of course, there are many areas inspired by real-life landmarks.

1. Turffield/Stonehenge

Turffield is one of the player’s first stops on a journey across the land of Galar. The image of Turffield’s upright stones will make players think of Stonehenge – a Neolithic and Bronze Age megalithic work located in British territory.

2. Motostoke/Manchester

If Turffield is reminiscent of peaceful and gentle rural towns, Motostoke brings players to busy, bustling towns, gathering all classes of society. The atmosphere as well as the familiar scenes of this bustling city make players think of Manchester – a city located in the northwest of England.

3. The Wild Area/ Lake District

The UK is known for its lush green fields and beautiful natural landscapes. The Wild Area is a miniature open world in Sword and Shield, inspired by one of the beautiful scenes in England, of which the Lake District is most similar to this area. Players will encounter the mountains in the distance, deep blue lakes and white clouds typical of the Lake District right in the game.

4. Circhester/Bath

The UK has a place without rain and cold for most of the year, the land of Galar certainly has such a place, the town of Circhester. Circhester gives players the image of being in the ancient city of Bath. This is a city in the Somerset region, located in the southwest of England, where it is famous for its ancient Roman baths, which look very similar to images of Circhester.​
