Tickets to The International 2019 event sold out within 50 seconds after the sale was delayed for an hour.
Tickets for the Chinese sold out almost immediately, and soon, international tickets also sold out.
Valve released 26,804 tickets for the Chinese market on TI9’s official selling portal. There were 9,268 tickets for the August 20-21 and August 22-23 tickets, as well as 8,268 tickets for the weekend, including the final day of competition.
The weekend package sold out within 27 seconds, according to Team Secret manager Matthew “Cyborgmatt” Bailey. All tickets sold come with an early access code for players using Dota Plus or purchasing a TI9 Battle Pass – this code allows them to purchase 1 hour in advance before tickets officially go on sale on May 21.

Fans with early access codes bought all tickets sold, forcing Valve and Damai to cancel the public sale. Valve said it will check for ticket cancellations and denials.
After the public sale period was canceled, many fans complained about ticket sales on the black market. Despite the early access barrier, tickets are now available on the black market at 5-6 times the price.

The global ticket sales also did not go much better. It is not clear how long tickets will sell out, but the public sale phase still has tickets for sale. However, that does not mean that some have been manipulated by the black market.

Valve is also investigating rumors that Damai used a private link to allow bots and black market tickets to bypass the early access code. If an investigation is ongoing, it will not cancel already sold tickets.
