Things you might have missed in the first Uncharted trailer

Recently, the first official trailer of the movie Uncharted has been announced.

After a long wait, gamers around the world finally got their first look at the Uncharted movie, based on the popular game series of the same name.

The film will star “Spider-Man” Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan and Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer.

Here are the highlights we noticed in the first trailer of the movie.

Before the film was released, there were many predictions and rumors that the movie would be in the same universe as the game and take place in the early stages of the collaboration between Nathan and Sully.

However, the trailer denies this when it shows that Nathan first met Sully as an adult. Moreover, the two met at a bar in New York.

In Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Nathan meets Sully in Colombia at the age of 15. After some twists and turns, Sully basically adopted Nathan and taught him the tricks of treasure hunting.

The Uncharted franchise is famous for our protagonist finding treasures left by celebrities and the accompanying film will be no exception.

The film’s treasure will likely belong to Ferdinand Magellan, the Portuguese explorer famous for his circumnavigation of the world. Unfortunately he passed away before this was successful.

It can be said that this is because when Nathan Drake paid special attention to Ferdinand Magellan’s map when he returned to Sully’s apartment.

Because it doesn’t take place in the game universe, director Ruben Fleischer was able to freely borrow scenes from the game to make the movie more familiar to gamers.

In a scene in the trailer, Nathan finds a ship stranded in a cave, a scene somewhat similar to the final chapter of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

In another scene, Nathan fell out of a cargo plane and had to climb back inside by jumping on packages. It can be clearly seen that this is inspired by the most famous scene of Uncharted 3.

Last but not least, it is the villain of the movie played by veteran actor Antonio Banderas. Named Braddock, the villain of the film seems to be a rich treasure hunter with a female bodyguard. These are two elements borrowed from Rafe Adler, the villain of Uncharted 4.
