After the huge success of the series The Witcher, Netflix announced a new project set in the same universe – that is The Witcher: Blood Origintells a story that happened 1,200 years before the time of Geralt of Rivia.
Netflix’s official Twitter shared briefly about the new Witcher project: “1200 years before the time of Geralt of Rivia, the worlds of monsters, humans and elves merged into one, and the first monster hunter appeared. Project The Witcher: Blood Origin, a six-part spin-off series from the hit series under the direction of Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.” Hissrich is also the TV producer of the first The Witcher series.
Hissrich also expressed his thoughts on the upcoming Witcher spin-off: “This is my hardest secret to keep. I’ve always wanted to delve deeper into the myths and lore of the continent, and going forward fans will get the chance to discover all that’s new with Declan de Barra in the prequel series, THE WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN, which will feature elves, enemies, an ending and more…”
One fan was quick to ask the question that the entire The Witcher community is wondering – will Witcher novels author Andrzej Sapkowski be involved in this project? Hissrich replied: “Of course it is.”
