Instructions for creating bunk beds in The Sims 4

1. Create rooms and platforms

Create rooms in The Sims 4

First, you need to determine the size of the room and where to sleep. The minimum width is 4 bricks to accommodate beds and stairs. The bed example created here can be suitable for any height of the wall and depth of the foundation.

Once you’ve made your selection, create a room, add a background. This tip works best if you put the background on 3 walls, but this is not necessary. When you place the background, it erases all surrounding walls. Don’t worry, this is completely normal.

2. Reconstruct the room and enhance the background

Laying foundations as beds in The Sims 4

You need to put the walls back in the normal way. After you finish the room, you need to elevate the background by clicking on it, then selecting the arrow in the box at the top. Arrows appear around the platform allowing you to adjust the length and the width. The large arrow in the middle allows you to adjust the base foundation.

To make a bunk bed in The Sims 4, the floor has been raised 4 steps, so the staircase will be 5 steps high.

3. Add a bed and find a bed location

Now you can place a bunk bed next to this platform. You can use any type of bed.

To access Debug mode, you need to do the following:

  • Press ctrl + shift + c to open the cheat bar.
  • Import testingcheats on, then press Enter.
  • If you don’t see a message confirming cheat activation, try testingcheats true.
  • Import bb.showhiddenobjects, press Enter.
  • Now you can type debug into the build search bar and buy or select it in the widgets type in the filter to find items not seen in normal mode.
  • You can view more items by importing bb.showliveeditobjects, then click the search icon (magnifying glass) without typing any keywords.

You should also enable cheat of the object by entering code bb.moveobjects on because it will be needed for the next step.

As you can see in the image above, several positions can be stacked or resized to create different effects. This example used a tall brown pole that is suitable for the bed.

4. Add the pillars

Added pillars in The Sims 4

To place the pillars, make sure to activate cheat on moving objects, then hold down the key Alt. Now feel free to put the ingredients involved.

This is the hardest part of creating bunk beds in The Sims 4 and you need to spend more time. You will also find that the column support pillars want to attach to the platform. To avoid this, you need to reduce the depth of the platform by 1 step so that it doesn’t touch the bed. Then feel free to place the columns before turning it back on. Occasionally the columns lag, but with patience you can still put them all in the right place.

The default height of the pillars is already a good choice, so you don’t need to adjust much. If you want to increase the height of the bed, you can press the keys 0 to 9, and then place another column on top of the existing support column.

5. Add a second bed and stairs

Add a second bed

The second bed should be in line with the original platform. Again, you need to move the object and the alternate position to pull it out.

Move the bed slowly away from the base so you can see where it attaches to the floor. You need to stop moving before it falls. Although you can increase the height of the bed from 0 to 9, it can lag, so it’s best to keep the default.

Once you’re satisfied with the result, add the stairs to the right of the platform.

The final step is to decorate the room as desired. You can refer to the suggestion below:
