The game closest to history in the world was “killed” by Google because of this icon

Attentat 1942 is the result of a combination of Charles Games and historians from the Czech Academy of Sciences. The game was born with the purpose of recreating the cruelty of war in the most realistic way. In 2018, Attentat 1942 was nominated in the category of Game with an Outstanding Story at GDC’s Independent Games Festival. However, Charles Games had difficulty in bringing the game to the mobile platform, mainly due to the regulations of the Google Play.

Charles Games tweeted that: “Google rejected Attentat 1942 due to details regarding Fascism. After all the efforts, e-mails were sent to get approval from the German managers, we are really disappointed by the situation. How to make a game that recreates World War 2 history without Nazism? We don’t have an answer to that question.”

The developer emphasized that they spent six months porting the game from PC to mobile, but now their enthusiasm has been “prohibit door” in at least four countries. Norwegian game – My Child Lebensborn also has similar problems with Google Play regulations.

However, according to Charles Games, Attentat 1942 has anti-fascist content: “While we agree that stores and platforms must handle a lot of malicious content, if reviewers consider Attentat 1942 carefully more, they will realize that our content is not like that. Attentat 1942 is anti-fascist.” Shortly after, Charles Games posted a screenshot of a representative from Google responding that they could not give a more specific answer as to why the game was banned and why the appeals were ignored.

Luckily, Google Czech Republic branch is getting in on the action. Charles Games shared that: “Google Czech Republic contacted us. We discussed the matter and they promised to review the Google Play Store Attentat 1942 denial again. Let’s stay optimistic. important. Hope they can do something about the game.”​
