What makes The Dark Pictures series of games truly unique is how the choices you make determine the course of the story and also determine the ending of the story. All The Dark Pictures games have multiple branching paths and are designed with replayability in mind in both single-player and multiplayer modes.
In Shared Story mode, you and another friend play games together, sharing the same story. Your characters are sometimes together, sometimes apart, and sometimes in two completely different locations, but the choices you make both determine how the story unfolds.
The great thing about Shared Story mode is that it gives you a completely different perspective of the game, unlike Solo Story. In Solo Story you alone make all the decisions while in Shared Story you are adding another human element to the game. Not all choices are yours now and it’s up to them what their companions decide to do… but the choices they both make are still relevant to the same story.
The Dark Pictures games will always put you in some moral dilemma, and Little Hope is certainly no exception to that rule. Ethical dilemmas will often be tied into a life-and-death scenario. There is no such thing as a completely good or bad choice, just the least bad choice. For example, in the game’s trailer, you can see that the character has crossed a broken and dilapidated bridge, the path takes them down to the river but something is waiting for them in the cold abyss and dark.

This short scene perfectly showcases some of the tough choices you have to make in Little Hope. In this case, you choose to save Angela or John and accept the consequences of one of two options. Who will you save?
