A new game from the maker of Stardew Valley.
Good news has suddenly come to the gaming community today when the father of the Stardew Valley farm game, Eric Barone – also known as ConcernedApe, recently announced the second game of Stardew Valley. My name is Haunted Chocolatier. This is a game that will be based on the world of Stardew Valley with a more fantasy setting.
Specifically in Haunted Chocolatier, players will play the role of a chocolate seller living in a haunted castle. To develop your chocolate shop, you will have to collect rare ingredients, make chocolates and sell them in a local chocolate shop. Haunted Chocolatier will carry a pixelated top-to-bottom graphics similar to Stardew Valley, although as the trailer shows, the game appears to take place in a larger town with more characters.
The trailer also shows players gathering ingredients and battling monsters in the wild, before returning to their homes to make chocolates. Later, chocolates are sold in a shop that appears to be run by ghosts. In the FAQ category on the game’s official website, developer Barone explained how Haunted Chocolatier is both similar to and different from his previous title, describing the new game as a role-playing game. More action:
“Like Stardew Valley, Haunted Chocolatier is another town simulation game where you move to a new town and try your hand at a new way of life. You will get to know the townspeople, achieve your goals and progress in many ways. All of that is similar to Stardew Valley. However, the core gameplay and the setting of the game will be a bit different. Haunted Chocolatier is more of an action RPG than Stardew Valley. And instead of a farm becoming the focal point of your efforts, you now run a chocolate shop.”
Haunted Chocolatier has been in development for about a year, and Barone is not yet ready to say when the title’s official release date will be. He noted that the title is currently single-player, has no plans to launch co-op in the future, and that the only platform he’s “100% sure” of is PC, although he also intend to bring it to other major platforms. Barone’s previous title, Stardew Valley, has sold over 10 million copies since its release.
