When you open Steam, you will surely realize this. Contrary to popular belief, PC games come with a hefty price tag. Not only are they expensive, but there are titles that aren’t worth the price. And when your budget is limited, choosing to buy games will become extremely headache. You can think of good games for free and ways to get them.

In the past (and now) you have probably downloaded ‘piracy’ games from different sources. It’s supposed to be the only way to play the game you love for free. This article will tell you 45 free PC games you can now play without feeling ‘disturbed’ with your conscience because of your actions. Many of them can be played online with friends. Therefore, if there is a group of friends who do not want to spend money to play games, you can start inviting them now.

From MMORPGs like Star Wars: The Old Republic to card games like The Elder Scrolls: Legends, there are plenty of free games to choose from:

16. Warframe

If you’re interested in third-person cooperative shooters, Warframe is one of the best free games out right now. After joining one of three groups of troops: Tenno, Grineer or Corpos, you will be dressed in Crysis style and carry guns or melee weapons.

The game has a better configuration than the usual free shooters. Warframe is so much fun to play in the PvE raid mode – so much so that some gamers say it’s a “non-Destiny version of Destiny”.

17. Smite

Gods from all over the world will battle each other in this ‘war of the gods’ MOBA game. The game is developed by the same company that made the FPS game Tribes Ascend.

This time the camera is located behind the character, making interacting with your god more direct instead of using the mouse to command. But its gameplay will be quite familiar with the other MOBA games mentioned in the list of part 1. The gods include Zeus, Thor, Kali, Artemis and… Cupid? At least this god kept his bow and arrow.

18. Lord of the Rings Online

A lot of MMO titles are released or re-released as free-to-play, and Lord of the Rings Online is one of those games going in the second direction: re-releases. Now, it’s not just a great game, it’s one of the more mature MMOs.

You will probably have to pay out of pocket, that is if you want to open adventure packs, but the game currently has no monthly fees or game purchases. If you missed the previous game, now is the time to give it a try.

19. Wildstar

If you just look at a few pictures, you might think Wildstar is a new game from the developer Insomniac Games, the studio that made Ratchet & Clank. The colorful game tends to be cartoonish, but this isn’t as entertaining an MMO as you might think, which could be the reason it didn’t reach the playerbase expected.

If you love Blizzard games like World of Warcraft, Wildstar will surely satisfy you. Many of the employees on the Carbine Studios development team come from a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard.

Although not a “breakthrough game in the modern MMORPG world”, according to IGN, Wildstar is still a traditional MMO game that has a place when the previous monthly payment system still exists. In the end, the game had to be changed to free to catch up with consumer trends.

20. Eve Online

In 2003, developer CCP Games released Eve Online to the world. Eve Online is a full-scale and deep sci-fi game with over 500,000 players. Eve Online is different from games in the same category, that’s because the game has a lot to do with the economic system of the in-game world.

Unfortunately, Eve Online’s player base has been steadily declining since 2013. Unsurprisingly, games that pay a monthly fee are slowly being shunned by players, and Eve Online is no exception. In the November 2015 Ascension update, Eve Online was officially free – to a degree.

Eve Online’s ‘alpha clones’ system is similar to the ‘unlimited free trial’ feature of World of Warcraft. You can still interact with other players in looting boats, mining, trading, etc. Explore and fight but some skills will be limited.As long as you are not annoyed by the limits that Eve Online puts in place to force you to pay, Eve Online costs nothing.

21. Blacklight: Retribution

Black Light: Retribution wasn’t free when it first arrived on PS4, but the game is still fun and great value for money. Almost a free version of Titanfall, Blacklight: Retribution does not have a single-player mode and takes place in a futuristic Cyberpunk world with player-favorite modes such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Domination, King of the Hill and Kill Confirmed.

With customizable weapons and robots, Blacklight: Retribution is highly entertaining, free, and a way to de-stress after a tiring day at work. In addition, the game has more than 1 million players and the number is still growing, so you will make a lot of new friends in this game.

22. Hawken (the game is currently only available on PS4, Xbox One)

The game is still in beta since 2012 with no promotional plans, you probably forgot about Hawken or didn’t really know about it. Hawken is a game about robots. But they are not just robots but extremely fast robots. Hawken are not slow machines like MechWarrior Online. They are like the Exoskeletons in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Of course, as a free game, you definitely have to pay to upgrade your robot. However, you can still enjoy Hawken without spending any money. Moreover, if you own the Oculus Rift, you can experience the feeling of virtual reality. You will definitely want to know what it feels like to control a huge machine like in the movie Pacific Rim.

23. Evolve Stage 2

Evolve was removed from Steam and then re-released as beta a year and a half after it first launched. It was later renamed by Turtle Rock developer of the famous Left 4 Dead game: Evolve Stage 2.

Although changing to free, the main systems in the game remain the same. This is a war between humans and monsters. A group of four people, called hunters, would have to face a single monster, and each hunter would have a unique class. Of course, with four players ‘bullying’ one, the game has an interesting point: like the title of the game (evolution), monsters start the game at a low level and then slowly evolve by killing and absorbing creatures that live nearby.

Evolve used to cost $40, but rest assured that Evolve Stage 2 is still an AAA game, even though the vast majority of content requires extra payment to open. Either way, the game is still worth a try on Steam for $0.

24. The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

Have you played Skyrim or Oblivion already? Then you should try the classic The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. This 1990 RPG is a predecessor to those popular RPG titles, and it’s classic in its own right.

The game world is much larger than its successors and it is the size of a whole continent. You may not be interested in outdated graphics, but it is well worth finding out what Skyrim’s brother is like.

The game can now be downloaded directly from Bethesda. The publisher made the game free to celebrate the game’s 15th anniversary.

25. Starcraft II

One of the most famous names of all time is Starcraft II, a real-time strategy competitive game. The Wings of Liberty version is completely free and is part of one of the game’s three campaigns. It was once a phenomenon in Korea, but now, with games like League of Legends and Dota 2 enjoying success, the Starcraft II craze has subsided. Maybe that’s why Blizzard decided to make Starcraft II a free model.

With clear tactical mechanics, plus bright environmental design and captivating storytelling found only in video games, Starcraft II is one of the most watched eSports around the world. Of course, as a Blizzard game, you’ll need a Battle.net account to play the game. The campaign (Wings of Liberty only) and multiplayer are free to play.

26. Wolfenstein 3D

Curious about what Wolfenstein looked like before The New Order was released? Wolfenstein 3D is now free and will take you back to 1992 when famous game developers John Carmack and John Romero teamed up to create an unprecedented masterpiece.

Wolfenstein 3D takes ideas from Muse Software’s Castle Wolfenstein and Beyond Castle Wolfenstein to create a three-dimensional shooter. This game is the inspiration for Doom to be born.

Remember, Wolfenstein 3D was impressive at the time, but it wouldn’t be what you’d expect in modern FPS game standards. Even so, the game is still easy to play and you can experience the game’s history in the context of World War 2. Don’t expect the game’s plot to be ‘brain-hacked’ like recent modern Wolfenstein versions.

27. Team Fortress 2

Maybe a bit old, but there’s nothing as fun as Team Fortress 2. Unlike other shooters of the same generation, players continue to stay there instead of leaving for new titles. Team Fortress 2 has no shortage of things to play. Incredibly fresh and never-ending, this is one of the kings of shooters, free-to-play or not.

As you might guess, in-game trading still exists in Team Fortress 2. You can purchase additional items, using them to customize your character. You can create your own character. The game is so much fun and you won’t be able to stop playing.

28. Gigantic

Perhaps the title has been eclipsed by Overwatch’s shadow, Gigantic is a fantasy hero shooter. Like Battleborn, Gagantic has more MOBA elements than Blizzard.

Gameplay will be a battle between two teams of 5, trying to defeat each other and a guardian in the game. Gigantic allows players to choose a lot of characters with each unique skill to upgrade. In addition, the game is also available on Xbox One.

Unfortunately, Gigantic did not achieve the expected success and the publisher decided to close the game in July 2018, so hurry up and play Gigantic before the game officially closes.

29. Magic Duels

Magic: The Gathering is fun, but it would be great if you could play it on PC. Luckily this happened thanks to Magic Duels. Whether you’re a beginner or a 20-year veteran, Duels lets you do everything the same as the original. In addition to the 300 new cards advertised in the game, Magic Duels also features a story mode for the Magic experience.

The game also has a Battle Mode for you to challenge your friends, a Two-Headed Giant 4-player mode. In addition, the game also has an offline solo mode so you can practice with the AI.

30. DC Universe Online

Another free MMO game on this list, DC Universe Online features characters like Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern in a vast world.

You can choose to be a member of the good or evil faction and customize your character. After that, you will be sent to the DC Universe Online world shaped by the hands of the publisher Daybreak Game Company.

After some training, the game will make you a member of the Justice League or The Society depending on whether you choose the hero or the villain. Unlike other MMOs on this list, DC Universe Online is designed to add interactivity while keeping traditional MMORPG elements like leveling, hunting, inventory, etc. The good news is that the game isn’t too much. difficult if you do not put real money into the game.
