During the 5 years since its release, PUBG has released a lot of maps, each with a different theme.
For Battle Royale games like PUBG, the map is probably one of the most important aspects. 100 players are given a map and battle each other using the resources they collect. Therefore, the map needs to be well designed for the game to be attractive. This year PUBG turns 5 years old and in that time, 10 maps have been released (including original and modified maps).
Erangel (original)
Erangel is a combination of urban areas and vast farmland. It’s a fictional island in the black sea near Russia, formerly a chemical/biological weapons testing site.
Miramar
Miramar is an 8×8 km city center map with vast desert plains and rural areas. There is an island in the southeast, where there are prisons and smaller villages, the whole area is separated from the west and northeast by huge gorges and mountain ranges.
Vikendi (original)
Vikendi is a 6×6 km island in the Adriatic Sea. It is an isolated northern resort and is home to many attractions, businesses, and villages. The terrain includes jungle with a warm Mediterranean coast and snowy mountains in the central area of the map.
Sanhok (original)
Sanhok is a 4x4km long island. It resembles a lot of islands in Thailand and the Philippines. This is the first map where PUBG Corp’s design team has visited a real location to develop…in fact, in the woods and mountains in a humid Asian country.
Erangel (edited)
Fixed Erangel map with Vault feature added, along with various visual updates.
Karakin
Karakin is the 5th map in PUBG, a 2x2km island off the coast of North Africa. This is the first map PUBG implemented Black Zone, where the layout changes every match.
Vikendi (edited)
The season 7 version of the Vikendi map has removed most of the snow, added train lines and various new locations.
Sanhok (edited)
The Sanhok map was edited by adding weather types for the day, sunrise, sunset, and overcast. It’s been reworked from the ground up to look better, perform better, and offer more balanced gameplay. The competitive version always features “Clear day” weather.
Paramo
Paramo is a 3×3 km active volcano map, the 6th map in the game. It is located in the highlands of South America. Paramo’s dangers are manifold, with the active volcano being the worst: its hot lava flows across the land.
Haven
Haven is a 1×1 km urban map and supports up to 32 players at a time. Map based on urban landscape in the United States. This is the first map where NPCs are armed. Combat in this map is frequent and completely chaotic.
